It was a real family drama which otherwise is seen normally in a Bollywood film. A 32-year-old placement agency owner was bashed up by his wife at a place where he was preparing to marry another woman. The incident took place in Central Delhi’s Prasad Nagar.

The police said the accused, Mukesh Khanna, had been married to Reena from Jharkhand for four years. The couple also has a two-year-old child. Helicopter flight leads to Horse's death

They have never been to a law school or sported the lawyer's black robes but many women in rural India are dispensing justice in tough cases like rape, child marriage and even divorce - mostly in just two weeks - at 'Nari Adalats'.

Like learned solicitors, the women running Nari Adalats record case profiles and history, the names of errant in-laws and husbands and the details of proceedings. Like the police, they conduct in-depth inquiry, talk to both the parties and like courts they summon both for a hearing.

"We started with the idea of solving minor problems of women like husband-wife fights, but today cases like rape, molestation, divorce and domestic violence are pouring in," said Jasodha Vashava, a founding member of the Nari Adalat in Vadodara, Gujarat. She stuck to a car and won it - but only after 72 hours

In Gurgaon city in Haryana state of India near it's capital city New Delhi, here was a unique contest. The contest was called 'Chipak ke Jeeto'(Stick & Win), and that's just what Rashmi Sikka did when she stood for three full days with her hand stuck on a gleaming Hyundai i10 - and won it too.

The 27-year-old Sikka had close competition from Amit Kalra during the contest that ended Monday night at a mall in Gurgaon, bordering the national capital. But she bagged the tiebreaker by managing to stand longer than Kalra - with one leg in the air and one palm on the compact car.

In Kerala state of India a grave-digger allegedly involved in stealing human parts, including skull and bones, to sell them to a drug maker was arrested by police at Ponnani town in the district.

Around 9.40 am on Thursday, Luv settled into Kingfisher Airlines seat 12 A. His brothers plonked themselves next to him while his parents took the seats across the aisle. Flying for the first time, the excited brothers began fidgeting around. A lever next to the seat drew Luv's attention. On it was a sticker that screamed 'Pull Me' in bright red.

Bull fight banned by court

In India "Jallikattu" is an annual event of bullfighting in Tamil Nadu state of India that dates back to the 3rd century well before Spain's bullfight.

But now the Supreme Court has banned jallikattu, a bull taming sport in Tamil Nadu state that has long been opposed by animal activists.

The court rejected the petition of bull owners, stating that the sport popular in the run-up to the harvest festival is too barbaric and cannot be allowed to continue.Last year one person was killed and 65 wounded in the sport. The court suggested bull cart races instead.

50 rare Jackals poisoned by Indian farmers

At least 50 rare jackals were poisoned to death in northern India by farmers angry over alleged attacks on children and damage to crops blamed on the animals, as per one forest official.

The carcasses of the jackals — an endangered species protected by Indian law — were found scattered in sugarcane fields over the past four days on the outskirts of Dudhwa National Park, nearly 155 miles southwest of the Uttar Pradesh state capital of Lucknow, said the official, K.K. "In India's Rajasthan, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar and the north-eastern states some women are identified and specifically targeted as witches or bearers of ill-omen in villages. These victims are socially ostracised and even close family members refuse to help or support the women, leaving them to the mercy of witch-hunters. Most of them suffer mental breakdowns because of pressure and depression."

“Whenever such incidents are reported, most people are dismissive, blaming it all on the superstitions of backward villagers. Almost all the victims are either widows or single women targeted by anti-social elements to either exploit them or snatch their property/land holdings. Even in the villages, almost everyone knows that witches don't exist,” as per Ms Tara Bhandari, chairperson, Rajasthan State Commission for Women.

Now Rajasthan state shall be the first state in India to formulate a Bill/Act on Prevention of Witch Practices to ensure justice to ill-fated women branded witches and exploited socially, economically and physically by unscrupulous elements in rural parts of the country almost regularly.

India's mountainous state of Himachal Pradesh is infested with rhesus macaque monkeys, who have been driven to farms and cities after losing their natural forest habitat.

Now Prem Kumar Dhumal, the state's chief minister has said that "Himachal Pradesh" would go on a "war footing" to fight the thousands of monkeys who have been turning farms into wastelands and attacking people, according to a statement from his office.

"Affected districts would be identified and local youth involved in the process, who would be provided training in capturing and sterilization by the experts," the statement quoted Dhumal as saying, adding that they would use "laser sterilization." Aniket has already created an unofficial world record by squeezing himself under a row of 57 four-wheel drive cars in 45 seconds.

With legs split, chest bent forward and chin almost skimming along the road, Aniket is no more than eight inches above the ground when he vanishes under the vehicles in Belgaum, India.

As per media reports Indian Police has arrested a lady serial killer from Bangalore city in Karnataka state of India. This lady serial killer allegedly murdered six women by administering cyanide and robbing their cash and jewellery.

Mallika, in her mid-40s, trapped the women facing domestic problems by advicing them to conduct a special pooja to get rid of them, police said.

In the pretext of conducting the pooja, the accused took them to a temple in the outskirts of the city, hired a room and administered cyanide, before escaping with their cash and jewellery.

Now the Police in Bangalore city plan to conduct a narco-analysis test on the woman serial killer to get her mindset on all such killings.

Horses get Pension

You could call it Horses pension! Horses retiring from a West Bengal police training college now have a new home to spend their twilight years with other comforts.

Fourteen ageing animals that have served for years have not ended up pariahs or been slaughtered like their predecessors. Instead the green acres of Ashari, an animal hospital-cum-shelter on the eastern fringes of Kolkata, run by Maneka Gandhi's People for Animal (PFA), is now their home.

"They have served for years. Now it is only human to pension them off instead of slaughtering them after they turn infirm.
