Unemployed man tries to offer head to appease God

Shimla : An unemployed man was arrested in Himachal Pradesh for trying to offer his head to appease a Hindu goddess and get blessed with a job, police said.

Postgraduates, graduates apply for Sweepers' jobs in India

Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh): Though India is projected as "India Shining" but the real facts are altogether different. Such is the high level of unemployment that graduates and even postgraduates - including an MSc in agriculture - are queuing up to apply for jobs as sweepers in in this satellite town of the national capital - and even wielding the broom to clean dirty roads and drains as part of the practical test.

Following an advertisement for 397 sweeper posts by the district administration of Gautam Budh Nagar, 1,076 applications were received. Among the applicants are more than a dozen postgraduates and graduates. Those selected would get jobs as sweepers in the villages of Gautam Budh Nagar. Unemployed Youth to Sterilize Monkeys

India's mountainous state of Himachal Pradesh is infested with rhesus macaque monkeys, who have been driven to farms and cities after losing their natural forest habitat.

Now Prem Kumar Dhumal, the state's chief minister has said that "Himachal Pradesh" would go on a "war footing" to fight the thousands of monkeys who have been turning farms into wastelands and attacking people, according to a statement from his office.

"Affected districts would be identified and local youth involved in the process, who would be provided training in capturing and sterilization by the experts," the statement quoted Dhumal as saying, adding that they would use "laser sterilization."
