Deaths, births not allowed – Tripura marks Ker Puja

Agartala – A centuries-old tribal custom in Tripura called Ker Puja permits no deaths, births or even recreation within a notified area. No outsiders are allowed to enter either, and anyone violating the rules has to pay.

It starts 15 days after Kharchi Puja, another tribal festival in the state.

World record-breaking puja performed in Jaipur

Over 5,000 people, including 3,510 priests, participated in a massive 'bhumi puja'(Ground breaking ceremony for a new project) for a condo homes project in Jaipur in Rajasthan state of India, simultaneously breaking the ground with shovels, to set a Guinness world record for such an event.

Kim Lacey from Guinness World Records, who had flown down from London to adjudicate, witnessed the event. 'This is truly amazing. I have never seen such an event before. Man gambles wife in India

During Durga Puja festivities that concluded recently in India, a man in a Bihar village staked his wife to another villager after he lost his money, land and possessions in gambling.

Umashankar Choudhary of Chaksaid village in Vaishali district gambled his wife, Sunanina Devi, to Manoj Singh of the same village.
