Mob pours acid on thief in West Bengal

in a horrific incident an unruly mob at a village in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district has poured acid into the eyes of an alleged thief for stealing betel nuts.

Lecturer arrested for throwing acid on student

In Andhra Pradesh state of India a lecturer who threw acid at a girl student for rejecting his marriage proposal was arrested last week, police said. Ch. Damodaram, who teaches in a private college in Visakhapatnam, threw acid on K. Kalpana, 19, in Palasa town in Srikakulam district.

Damodaram, who was absconding and had taken shelter at his friend's house in Visakhapatnam, was arrested and brought to Palasa.
