Kilometre-long invite for Barack Obama

Barack Obama has mail - from a place in Uttar Pradesh state in India that he would never have heard of.

And how! Measuring over one kilometre, the letter has been put together by more than 11,000 people over eight months and carries a simple message for the US president - 'Come and inspire hope: lots of love from Basti district, Uttar Pradesh'.

Many of the two million-odd residents of Uttar Pradesh's Basti district, some 300 km from state capital Lucknow, have collaborated to prepare the one-km long invitation letter for President Obama. Teacher held for Love Letter to Student

Villagers of Aralalasandra in Karnataka state of India taught a high school teacher a stern lesson for writing a love letter to his student. Postman sells letters to Scrap dealer

What shall be your reaction if you come to know that the letter / documents you were supposed to receive have been sold by the Postman to a scrap dealer for little sum of money? Indeed a postman from Indore has allegedly sold hundreds of letters, bills and insurance intimations to a waste paper dealer instead of delivering them.
People of Navlakha area of the Indore city were astonished when they came to know of this.

The police has seized letters and other material from the waste dealer, Director of Postal Services Madhvi Dabral told reporters, Letters, intimations from Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), magazines and documents like telephone bills.

Weighing nearly three kilograms, these were allegedly sold by the postman to the scrap dealer Azam, who in his statement said that the postman sold such letters to him earlier too.

Nearly 250 letters were found in Azam's shop after which they were posted on June 15, Dabral said.
