Police in any country or state is there to control crime over there. But have you ever heard off that the Police of a state offered prayers to God to control crime in his / her area. Yes, a Police officer in Bihar State of India has performed special prayers in a police station seeking divine intervention to control crime in a state notorious for murder, extortion and where hardly a day passes without reports of at least one or two kidnappings.
Rita Kumari, the officer-in-charge of the industrial area police station in Hajipur, the district headquarters of Vaishali about 30 km from here, organized a special 'yagna', or fire rituals, to check rampant violence.
Rita, in her 30s, said proudly: "The prayers are the first of their kind to be held in any police station in the state. Apart from police officers, dozens of people turned up to participate."
The religious event lasted many hours. "I performed the rituals according to the Hindu priest's advice, asking for god's blessings to change the mindset of criminals and to check the crime graph here. I strongly believe that it will help create a crime-free society," Rita told IANS over the phone from Hajipur.
The police station was specially decorated for the occasion and arrangements were made for 'Prasad'. The prayers and rituals were carried out by four traditionally clad priests amid recitation of religious scriptures, said officials.
The policemen and local people went on singing and dancing to religious songs for hours after the yagna was over.
The special prayers have become the talk of the town. "Dozens of local people called the police station to inquire about whether this was really true," said a police official posted there.
Rita Kumari is not the only police officer to believe that crime can be controlled with the help of divine intervention. Some months ago a DIG from Muzaffarpur had delivered a discourse at a function organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) urging locals to follow religious guidelines to control crime.
The rising crime graph in the state is one of the main worries of the Nitish Kumar administration. When he took over as chief minister in 2005 he had promised to turn Bihar into a crime-free area within three months. But police records continue to suggest otherwise.

It seems Simian Instincts are coming back for this 8 years old boy in Bihar state of India. Yes, here an eight-year-old boy in a Bihar village has grown a hairy tail that refuses to stop growing though boy cuts it every time.
Roshan Kumar, is a resident of Rani village in Begusarai district, about 126 km from here. He hates his appendage and wants to get rid of it. His friends in school make fun of him, calling him 'poonch wala bandar (monkey with a tail).
A doctor told the Class 2 student not to worry, saying the tail would stop growing on its own after a while.
According to his father, Avadh Kishor Rai, the tail is a 'rare gift of nature'.
But it causes Roshan a lot of pain too, especially when children make a grab for it during play.
According to Rai, several people come to see his son out of curiosity.
'His tail has been there since birth. It is a miracle of nature,' Rai maintains.
But for the tail, Roshan is a normal child, said his father.

Kolkata - West Bengal - India : If there is a corpse in the Sambhunath Pandit Hospital morgue, it will be feasted on by rats or cockroaches or ants. As per TV reports, same happened with the body of Bishom Roy, a man above 60 & who was admitted to Shambhunath Pandit Hospital a few days back with diabetes. He died subsequently but his body had to be kept in the hospital morgue since his sons lived in Patna.
The hospital authorities will never admit it — even after the furore over Roy’s body, nibbled at by rats on Tuesday night — but the real story tumbles out once you meet the right set of insiders.
While the deceased was kept in the morgue after payment of a 'fee' to the hospital employees, when the body was handed over to his sons it was found with ear and nose nibbled away by rats.
Soon a mob led by the youth wing of the Congress started protesting inside the hospital premises and even blackened the face of the hospital superintendent.
Later police arrived and controlled the situation. Read more........

Mumbai: For Surendra Gupta, it was one honeymoon that will never cease to haunt. In a bizarre incident, the honeymoon plan of a young executive went sour after his newly-married wife drugged him and striped him off his belongings on the train to Goa & then ran away with her paramour.
Poonam Gupta, 23, lodged a complaint on February 9 with Thane police on the outskirts of Mumbai, accusing her husband Surendra Gupta, a manager with a pharmaceutical company, of spiking her drinks and abandoning her on the way to their honeymoon to Goa.
But police investigation brought out a different story. It has now turned out that it was Poonam, a postgraduate science student of a reputed college in Navi Mumbai, who allegedly plotted the operation with another man to whom she had been allegedly married earlier.
"It is a quirky story of a woman who had accused her husband of spiking her drink, abandoning her on their way to honeymoon - but it turns out that she is the suspect," said Inspector Balkrishna Choube of the Thane railway police station. "She was finally made to confess, which landed her and two accomplices including her paramour in police custody on Wednesday." Read More.........

Bad Karmas of a human being make that person a bad man while Good Karmas make him a Good man. Something similar is the story of "Dilip Nayak" who was a dreaded dacoit of south Orissa a decade ago but due to Good works being done by him now has made him a saint, philosopher, yoga guru, spiritual Guru, or by ,whatever, similar names you want to call him. He is at present teaching fellow prisoners `asanas' and `pranayam' techniques to cure ailments inside the Berhampur circle jail.
Dilip in his thirties is serving life imprisonment. It is the same jail from which he made a daredevil escape in 1996 to be nabbed and put inside the same prison again. Fellow prisoners still respect his clout. But he has no more the arrogance of a dreaded criminal. He continues to speak on `karma theory', `vedantic' principles, yogic asanas, pranayam, effect of meditation on mind and attitude.
He is said to be one of the most voracious readers at the jail and his books of preference are related to Upanishads and Vedanta. He has started writing his own understanding of these philosophies in Oriya. Read more.......

Quran is the holiest book of Muslims & its verses are equally holy.
A miracle occurred when woodcutters began felling a tree inside the compound of a Sufi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir state of India. They were surprised to find 'impressions of Quranic verses' on the wood. It was divine intervention against cutting of trees!
Or so many Kashmiris are beginning to believe after visiting Sufi saint Syed Shah Farid-ud-Din's shrine in Achu Gudool village in Kokernag, 72 km from here.
Hundreds of people are flocking to the south Kashmir site where the saint, originally from the Kishtwar sub-district of the Jammu region, is buried.
Besides the Quranic verses, the pieces of wood from the age-old willow tree felled were also said to carry impressions of a skull cap, a lamp and a prayer mat.
Last week the managing committee of the Sufi shrine decided to fell some willow trees inside the shrine compound. But when woodcutters felled the first willow, they were stunned by what appeared inside.
'As the woodcutter chopped the wood into four pieces he was stunned. On one piece of wood were written verses of the holy Quran. On the second piece there was the impression of a prayer mat used by devout Muslims to offer the namaz,' said Muhammad Amin, the contractor entrusted with the duty of felling the trees.
'The third piece bore the impressions of a skull cap worn at the time of the namaz and the fourth piece bore the impressions of an oil lamp which visitors light at the shrine.'
Immediately after the discovery of the miracle impressions, the shrine committee members stopped the tree felling work.
As penance for ordering the tree felling, they removed the pieces of the felled willow tree to a compound in the shrine. And visitors have been thronging to see the miracle impressions.
'Hundreds of believers are now visiting the shrine daily to see for themselves the miracle impressions. It is clearly a message for all of us. The saint does not approve of any tree felling,' said Ali Muhammad, 49, a resident of the village.
Kashmir has seen the indiscriminate felling of trees in the last two decades.

Fashion shows and Beauty pageants are being organized in India every now & then. It has been a by product of Globalization in India. It has ushered in a host of new trends, some of which are widely welcomed in the society.
Is sashaying on the ramp a mode of celebration of beauty? There are people who beg to differ. The detractors organized a parallel beauty pageant on the eve of the Miss Kerala contest in the Kochi city in south India. The organizers paraded several buffaloes before the public and crowned the "most beautiful" beast. Of course, there were no special prizes for beautiful skin or teeth.

Very few Indian things are able to set a world record & fewer are able to enter the Guinness book of world records. But this time something related to 'Ghost' has been able to do this feat & enter the Guinness book of world records. Yes , its India's 'Bhut Jolokia chilli' or 'Ghost Chilli' which has been confirmed as the world's hottest pepper by the Guinness book of records.
Paul Bosland, a regents professor at New Mexico State University, recalls taking a bite of the chilli pepper and feeling like he was breathing fire.
The Bhut Jolokia is a naturally occurring hybrid native to the Assam region of northeastern India. A member of the university's chille pepper institute who was visiting India sent Bhut Jolokia seeds back to New Mexico for testing in 2001. The plant does not produce fruit easily, so it took some years to get enough for field testing, Bosland said. Read more.............

Don't know English properly, then you are not welcome with Indian airlines. As per a
report India's civil aviation regulator, country has sent home at least 20 foreign pilots flying for its airlines in the past year as their poor English posed safety concerns.
English is used by India's hard-pressed air traffic controllers, who are struggling to make sense of crowded skies following a surge in new airlines in the last few years.
Rapid growth has led to carriers hiring hundreds of foreign pilots -- including from Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
"There have been cases where pilots have been sent back as their English proficiency was not up to the mark," Kanu Gohain, Director General of Civil Aviation, told reporters.
"Around 20-25 have been sent back, mainly from CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) nations and eastern Europe."
Several near misses have been reported in recent months as planes competed to land at overstretched big city airports.
Newspapers and television channels have said poor communication between foreign pilots and air traffic controllers is often to blame.
Passenger traffic is expected to grow at 19 percent a year up to 2009 and the country's domestic airlines will need more than 400 new planes in the next five years to meet growth.

In India any Public figure doing alcohol ads is not liked by many people & many times it brews a storm with the masses. Earlier it was Cricketer Ace off-spinner Harbhajan Singh who created tension among the Sikhs in the country when he appeared in an alcohol ad for keeping his hair open in the advertisement.
Picture: Harbhajan Singh on the ramp
Harbhajan Singh, who was pulled up by the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee [S.G.P.C.], the apex religious body of Sikhs, had said that he respected emotions of the people of his community and did not do it intentionally. Later he apologized to the Sikh community for 'hurting' their emotions by keeping his hair open in the ad. 'If my action has hurt the Sikh community, then I feel sorry for it. I will take note of it (in future),' Harbhajan had said at that time.
Now its the turn of leading Southern Indian film star, Mohanlal against whom Prohibition activists are making lot of noises, as he has appeared in whisky advertisements. They want the actor to apologize for violating laws that ban direct liquor advertisements.
Picture: Film Star Mohanlal in alcohol ad
Mohanlal has a huge fan base in Kerala for his roles in local Malayalam language films. He has also had some Bollywood hits. Protesters say his appearance in the whisky campaign will encourage alcoholism. Kerala has the highest per capita consumption of alcohol in India.
Alcohol advertising is banned in India & Brewers have used different methods to get around the ban, sometimes promoting non-alcoholic drinks with near-identical labels to the alcoholic ones. Read more.............

On Valentine's Day some Hard line Hindu groups had requested young couples not to visit parks with their Valentine & this time they lived up to it too. The loving couple from Vijayawada in South India would never have imagined that their outing on Valentine's Day in a Park shall enter for their wedlock in a few minutes.
Yes it happened with 23-year-old Vijay and 19-year-old Durga who set out for an outing in the Rajiv Gandhi Park in the city on Wednesday evening.
Vijay, an autorickshaw driver from Bhavanipuram, was sitting pretty with his ladylove and enjoying the snacks when a band of Bajrang Dal activists(Protesters) came to the park & started raising slogans against the practice of celebrating the Valentine's Day.
The activists, who were equipped with the basic material required for performing a marriage, such as a `mangalasutram' of only yellow thread and without the usual gold, some 'kumkum' and 'akshintalu' ( things used for a Hindu wedding), insisted that the boy tie the knot around the girl's neck if their love was true. The bashful couple had little choice but to heed to their advice, and the activists presided over their 'instant' marriage. The hunt continued as activists moved on to a nearby park to perform more 'marriages'.

In India there are many Hard line Hindu groups who consider Valentine's Day as western influence on Indian Society which is spoiling the youth in the country. In response they threatened Tuesday to beat up young couples in India who exchange Valentine's Day cards or gifts!!!!
"We request young couples not to visit parks and restaurants or organize parties on Valentine's Day. Those who do not listen to us will be beaten up,'' Ved Prakash Sachchan, the convener of the militant Hindu group Bajrang Dal, told The Associated Press in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state.
"In the name of Valentine's Day, there is an attempt to westernize Indian culture and we will not allow this to happen,'' Ved Prakash added.
Hindu activists have also put up billboards across Lucknow asking young lovers not to hold hands in public.
Traditional Indian society does not approve of public displays of affection between the sexes, including hand-holding and kissing.
Another Hindu hardline organization, the Shiv Sena, has said it will photograph couples caught in supposed compromising positions and hand over the pictures to their parents. Volunteers will stake out public parks, cinemas and shopping malls to "keep an eye on young people,'' Vijay Tiwari of the Shiv Sena said.
The organizations said they would "blacken the faces" of young couples found "displaying their love" in public places and and would burn Valentine's Day cards outside gift shops. Students Federation of India leader Sanjay Madhav said "unsocial elements" will not be allowed to "distort" Indian values.
So what are your views on such protests? Do you find such protests as weird or are these O.K. with Indian Values?

Ignorance is never bliss. Ignorance is Ignorance most of the times & in such a condition a person does not know what he is doing or saying. Here is a classic case of a person who is enveloped by ignorance while he says that he wants to father 30 children in spite of unable to feed his present 11 children properly.
Here is a blacksmith from the Bihar state of India who has 11 children and still counting. Kapil Dev Vishwakarma, the resident of a village in Aurangabad district in Bihar says that "I will set a record for fathering at least 30 children".
His wife Sona Devi, in her early 30s, delivered her 11th baby Tuesday. "It was a happy moment for me. I hope to have a dozen by next year," remarked Vishwakarma, who earns a meager living by punching cattle shoes."
I have already made a record in my village by fathering 11 children," he said. Vishwakarma, who can barely read and write, admitted that it was difficult to manage his large family but he was not particularly worried."
Look...I have firm belief that a child is born with its own destiny. After all, god will provide him food like he does for millions born daily in the world."Sona, with the newborn in her lap, said children were god's gift to them for power and prosperity. She is against family planning.
These are the people who are responsible for the population explosion in India which has already touched 1.1 Billion & millions living in utter poverty & unable to give proper living & education to their children. These are the people who after fathering their children think that God shall take care of their children, in stead of taking care of their children themselves. Now what would you say about the weird thinking of these ignorant people!!!!!!!! Read more...............

As per a
report A US-based international Hindu reform organisation has expressed disapproval of the ritualistic ceremonies performed by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan for his son Abhishek and fiancée Aishwarya Rai.
Aishwarya is a Manglik (astrologically Mars-bearing), which is believed to have negative consequences for her impending marriage. The actress is said to have married a peepal tree at Benaras, a banana tree at a Bangalore temple and a god's idol in Ayodhya.
The organisation Navya Shastra commends the Bachchans for their Hindu religiosity and charitable works but is extremely concerned about their actions, which will have an unhealthy impact on their fan base.
Before announcing their engagement, Abhishek and Aishwarya performed a series of poojas (offerings) at the Kashi Vishwanath temple and the Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. After their engagement, the couple also sought the blessings of the deity at the Vindhyavasini Temple.
The organisation opines that astrology and similar unscientific practices should be renounced in marital matchmaking and other everyday activities in Hindu society.

In India it's a common scene to see children on the railway platforms. They can be seen doing menial work, cleaning bogies of railways, begging etc. etc. on platforms. What do you think, whether they are happy doing this work? Interestingly, as per a study conducted by the Society for Assistance to Children in Difficult Situation (SATHI) , Yes 50 per cent of the children found on the tracks are happy to make railway platforms their home.
Wonder what's the reason for all such love with the platforms for such children?
"These are mostly runaway children, who come from relatively good families. Either the attraction of the city or parental pressure to work that they do not want to do, are some of the reasons why they land up on the platforms," explained SATHI secretary Pramod Kulkarni.
The survey showed that at least 40 per cent of the children left their homes because they did not fare well in their tests or some education-related pressure, added Kulkarni.
On an average, 25 children landup on the railway station every day, totalling of about 750 per month. According to the survey, which was conducted over a week, 186 children had runaway from home. The highest recorded in the age group of 12-15 years.
Over 120 had both the parents alive, 44 had single parents and only 9 were orphans. Also, 86 were first timers (the first time they were sent back home), 33 were second timers, 16 were third timers and 38 were fourth timers. Read more...........

Earlier news doing rounds about Aishwarya Rai was that, before tying the knot with Abhishek Bachchan , Aishwarya Rai may have to perform some complex ceremonies and rituals. According to an earlier tabloid report, as Aishwarya Rai is a 'Manglik', she may have to undergo a ‘Kumbh Vivah’ before marrying Abhishek Bachchan & may have to tie the knot two times to make her marriage successful. Two times, yes , she may have to marry a peepal or banana tree before her marriage with Abhishek. While this may sound weird but there may be some substance in such a weird ritual that Ash has to perform considering that the Bachchans are a very religious family.
Now there is another controversy about her marrying a peepal or banana tree before her marriage with Abhishek. As per a
report A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Patna High Court against Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai for marrying trees to overcome astrological differences with her fiancé Abhishek Bachchan. Lawyer Shruti Singh, who filed the PIL , says the ritual promotes untouchability.
"I filed a PIL to stop such practices as reportedly conducted by actor Amitabh Bachchan for his future daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai. It is in violation of Article 17 of the Constitution, which prohibits untouchability. It also violates fundamental human rights," said Shruti.
According to Shruti, the fact that Aishwarya had to marry the trees and the idol before marrying Abhishek, who is a non-Manglik, amounts to untouchability.
"The rituals performed by Aishwarya, Amitabh and Abhishek would only promote superstitions and blind faith among common people," Shruti, who is also a women's rights activist.
Aishwarya Rai is a popular actress in Bollywood & Americans are waiting to see her in Hollywood films too! She has lots of fans in the USA too & she was also a former Miss World while Abhishek Bachchan is also an established Actor in Bollywood Film Industry & is the son of Great Amitabh Bachchan & Jaya Bachchan who too are an established name in Bollywood.

Indian politics sometimes seem to be a bizarre game. Anything that cannot be thought of anywhere in the world, it actually happens in India. Normally, in poll manifesto of any Party, anywhere in the world, has people of the concerned area on the list but over here in the upcoming elections on February 21, in Uttarakhand state of India, Congress Party's manifesto do contain Monkeys & pigs on its agenda.
As per the manifesto, it does assure villagers of 500 villages in the state to take concrete measures to tackle monkeys and pigs that are running riot across the hill-state’s villages. The menace spread by monkeys in villages is such an urgent issue here that its eradication has become one of the primary election demands of the villagers. So the Congress manifesto committee, headed by Pranab Mukherjee, has accepted suggestions from state leaders and put freedom from monkeys and wild boar among the party’s poll promises. BOLLYWOOD'S iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan is thanking an elaborate turban for saving his life after he was kicked on the head by a camel while shooting for a film.
The 64-year-old actor, playing a royal guard in Eklavya, a period film about palace intrigue, was shooting a scene in which he had to pass through a herd of 400 camels.
The Mumbai Mirror newspaper reported today that one of the camels suddenly landed a kick on Bachchan's head, leaving him dizzy for a few minutes.
'Mr Bachchan kept saying 'the turban saved my life', director Vidhu Vinod Chopra told the daily.
'I would have never believed it happened, but then we spotted the camel in action on the monitor.'
The headgear that Bachchan wore for the film is a traditional colourful turban worn by villagers in the western desert state of Rajasthan.

Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) in it's latest avatar, and hosted by Shah Rukh Khan has some unusual aspects to it, which somehow, are new to the KBC show. Show starts with a raunchy song,'Ek Sawaal Ka Sawaal hai', where scantly clad girls are dancing with the Shah Rukh Khan. Then there are aspects like, Shah Rukh Khan giving massage to the contestants on the Hot Seat and blowing wet kisses to 'boys' and girls back home watching the show.
Shah Rukh, such gestures are generally not liked by girls & women in the traditional Indian Society. Then you ask the contestants to Hug you if they have to quit the show, 'Shah Rukh, Mujhe Gale Laga Lo'. Again such an asking from you is inappropriate to the female contestants & is also not to the liking of many girls & women viewers in the Indian Society, as it is very embarrassing for many of them to do such an act with a man & that too live on TV.
You have recently seen how in the episode on Ist February, 2007, the Lady Teacher had reacted to such a proposal of yours. Hope you remember what she said to such an indecent proposal of yours. ' Mujhe, Tumse Gale Lagne Ka Koi Shok Nahin Hai', she had responded to such a request of yours i.e. I am not fond of having a Hug with you & you in desperation had not even given the 12.5 Lakh cheque to her & had instead given it to her mother. So Shah Rukh Khan, come to senses & stop asking your female contestants to Hug You, otherwise, a day is not far off, when some female contestant is going to slap you on the show itself for such an indecent proposal of yours. Shah Rukh, it's Indian Society & not American or some other Western Society.
