Prisoners attack jail staff with Cricket bats

Hyderabad: It was a routine check at the Cherlapally Open Air Jail on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The jail staff were checking to see if any prisoner had a mobile phone on Monday, when they were attacked by some undertrial prisoners.

The jailors reportedly suspected that some phones had been smuggled into the jail. In Hyderabad city, the state capital of Andhra Pradesh state of India, a chain-snatcher's ingenious ways to get out of police custody ended in a comic show with the men in uniform laughing all the way.

The thief, who was kept in the rural police station premises, pleaded with the police to let him off. As his pleas fell on deaf ears, he thought of other ways to get out of the police station. Then the thief climbed atop a huge tree inside the police station compound.
