Drug fever high in Punjab elections

Punjab politicians had the voters literally on a drug high. Not only liquor, the candidates in fray ensured that people get the drug of their choice. The drug menu on table during a fortnight long elections had a wide range -- from heroin, poppy seeds, drug power, intoxicating tablets to syrup.

How easily and widely the drugs and intoxicants were available during the state elections could be gauged from the election commission's seizure of drugs worth Rs 40 crore. 80-year-old woman held for smuggling drugs

The Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested an 80-year-old woman in Chhattisgarh on charges of smuggling marijuana. Akun, hailing from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, was arrested from Raipur railway station while waiting for someone to hand over 7 kg of contraband, which she kept in a bag along with chocolates and biscuits. It happens only in India. Where 52 % of Cops are alcoholics or addicts

Can you ever believe a Police force in which 52 % of Cops are alcoholics or addicted to drugs. Yes, Punjab state Police in India is having that many numbers as alcoholics or addicted to drugs. As per one Times of India report:

There can’t be an irony greater than this: the same force that fought the terrorists which included many drugged or drug-peddling militants, is today reporting more and more of its own victims to the scour-ge of substance abuse and addiction.

A survey conducted by the police department in border districts of Amritsar, Taran Taran and Gurdaspur has put the percentage of addicts, including alcoholics, in the police force at a staggering 52%. IG (borderzone) R P Meena said, "Over half of the cops in border regions are alcoholics or into drugs.

They are up to rank of inspectors." While many of the cops have turned alcoholic, the rest are falling prey to opium. There is also a small percentage of policemen who use drugs like smack and heroin.

Wife drugs and robs husband

Mumbai: For Surendra Gupta, it was one honeymoon that will never cease to haunt. In a bizarre incident, the honeymoon plan of a young executive went sour after his newly-married wife drugged him and striped him off his belongings on the train to Goa & then ran away with her paramour.

Poonam Gupta, 23, lodged a complaint on February 9 with Thane police on the outskirts of Mumbai, accusing her husband Surendra Gupta, a manager with a pharmaceutical company, of spiking her drinks and abandoning her on the way to their honeymoon to Goa.

But police investigation brought out a different story. It has now turned out that it was Poonam, a postgraduate science student of a reputed college in Navi Mumbai, who allegedly plotted the operation with another man to whom she had been allegedly married earlier.

"It is a quirky story of a woman who had accused her husband of spiking her drink, abandoning her on their way to honeymoon - but it turns out that she is the suspect," said Inspector Balkrishna Choube of the Thane railway police station. "She was finally made to confess, which landed her and two accomplices including her paramour in police custody on Wednesday." Read More.........Woman drugs and robs husband
