Quran is the holiest book of Muslims & its verses are equally holy. Now if you want to have these verses as ringtones on your mobile phone, it violates Islamic law, as per Muslim clerics at a seminary in India.

Ringtones with Quran Verses are very popular among Muslims in Uttar Pradesh, India's largest state. To Many Muslims, such Ringtones / Religious tunes are a reminder of their faith to them.

But Religious clerics at the Dar-ul Uloom seminary in Uttar Pradesh, India have issued an edict, calling the practice an un-Islamic. Reason given is that misuse of the Quran for entertainment is not allowed. It matters little to them that hearing such verses daily is only reminding the individual Muslim about good holy words written in Quran. Now it is only upto individual Muslim to ascertain, whether, it is holy / unholy to listen to Quranic Verses As Ringtones.
