In a weird incident, a man in a Madhya Pradesh village in India killed his guest because he did not like the food his mother had cooked.
The victim's body, bearing injury marks inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon, was found by police in the fields in Phanda village, on the outskirts of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh state of India.
Police traced and arrested Ramesh, the owner of the axe used in the killing. He later confessed to have killed the victim, who is still to be identified as his face was disfigured. He said that he met a stranger (the victim) at a teashop outside the village. The stranger was in search of transportation for going to Sehore district. Since it was very late in the night and no transport was available, Ramesh invited the victim to have dinner at his house and later killed him,' said Assistant Superintendent of Police Deepak Verma.
While having dinner the victim apparently refused to eat as he didn't like the taste of the food, which had been cooked by Ramesh's mother. This led to an altercation between them and Ramesh attacked him with an axe, resulting in his death.

Superstition, blind faith are very much part of the personality of a weak minded person. What would you call to a set of society which is having all these superstitions as part of their culture? It is really disappointing that people believing in all such superstitions still exist in this 21st century. What do you think, where all such people can be found? Of course, India.
Take the case of these people of Ahmedabad city in Gujarat state of India. Due to four-generation-old superstition, traders at a busy market in Gujarat's principal city kept their shutters down for 20 days after Holi ( a Hindu festival of colors), incurring a loss of around Indian Rs.50 million ( US $ 1.1 Million).
Among traders in "Laat Bazar" in the city, there is a strong belief that ,whosoever, does business in grains and other such commodities & reopens his shop "First" after the Holi festival break would lose someone in their family and go bankrupt.
So great is the fear that 40 years ago the market remained closed for as long as six months.
'This year the market remained closed till some prominent traders late Friday consulted an astrologer who suggested an auspicious time for reopening of the market.'
At 10 p.m. the traders performed a puja at a temple in the vicinity of the market and all shops were symbolically reopened. Real trading commenced only on Monday.
May God give some strength to these weak minded people!!!!!!!!

In India bonded labor does not exist officially & so as per the Bihar state government's official records. But many farm workers at Paipura Barki village, some 60 km from Patna, state capital of Bihar state have not been able to throw off the yoke of bondage even though they have worked for nearly three decades for their lenders. As per an article in "Times of India" :
"Meet Jawahar Manjhi, 45, who has a wife and four children. About 27 years ago when he was a teenager, his starving family took rice on loan from the local "mahajan", or lender, for a wedding. It was decided that Manjhi would work in the lender's field and repay with his labor. For a day's work, he would be given one kg of rice, which is one-third of the normal payment of three kgs.
Since then Manjhi has been working six days a week, eight hours a day. But the loan remains to be repaid. "Originally the loan was one 'mun' (about 40 kgs). Twenty-seven years on, I don't know how much have I repaid and how much more I owe to the 'Mahajan'," said Manjhi. "
Though slavery was abolished in most parts of the world, even from the African continent, there can be many cases like above which still exist in many parts of the India where people work for whole of their lives just for food & clothing.Read more.........

Blind faith in anything can be dangerous many times & can lead to a mishap as it blinds ones intellect & clouds the rational reasoning. Something similar has happened, when in a bizarre incident, during "Navratras" festival , one man from Ludhiana city in Punjab state of India cut his own tongue to offer it to goddess "Kali". "Navratras" is a religious festival of the Hindus, where people worship Goddess Durga & Kali by fasting & performing religious ceremonies during nine days period of the festival.
Man was immediately rushed to the government civil hospital here on Monday after he cut his own tongue to offer it to the goddess.
Doctors at the civil hospital performed a surgery on the man after people rushed him there as he was bleeding profusely.
The doctors were able to stitch the tongue back.
So here is a classic example when religion makes one do weird acts in the name of religion.

India is a country of 1.1 billion people. Millions in the country are jobless. People in general in India have nothing to be proud of, as millions live below the poverty line, there is corruption in most walks of the life, politicians don't give any confidence that they are running the country in a professional manner & trying to improve the lives of its people.
In all such scenario, if there was something that Indians felt Proud of, it was it's 'Cricket Team', as no other sport in India gave it's people any recognition on the world map. It was Cricket only which gave Indians once even the World Cup & many times, Indian Cricket team was able to defeat the strong teams of other countries. So common people of India made Indian Cricketers their Gods. Whether it was Sachin Tendulkar or Mahendra Singh Dhoni, people fell in love with them & expected wonders from every Team member of Indian Cricket team, every time.
Now with the disappointing performance of their Gods in the World Cup, Indian people are heart broken & many have tried to vent their feeling by protesting on the streets. Below are few pictures of the protesting Indian Cricket fans. Though it is natural to get emotional after seeing the Indian cricket team got ousted from the World Cup, fans in India should realize that it's a game only & we should not show emotional outbursts on the streets & in no way we should harm any cricketer, their family members or the house & property of their heroes whom they worshipped like Gods few days ago. Pl. realize that Indian Cricketers are "Human Beings " only & not the "Gods".

Here is an interesting article explaining why it is good that India is out of Cricket World Cup. It gives some solace to the disappointed Indian fans and angry Indian advertisers who are shocked by the India’s exit from the World Cup. As per the article, Sri Lanka has done a great favor to Indian economy by ousting the Indian cricket team from the World Cup.
It explains in great details with statistics that Indian economy shall benefit from it, as millions of people shall not cause productivity loss in their jobs & shall save millions of watts of electricity, as millions of people shall not be glued to their TV sets all the times. Most important of all, it shall save many more lives as at least three Indian citizens have been reported to die due to cardiac arrest or suicide after India’s defeat at the hand of Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. In India it is very common that legal court cases goes on for years together but what you would call to it, if a dispute between neighbors over a pet dog became a court case and lasted for 10 years. Ironically, it remained pending for nearly seven years in the Supreme Court.
Mohammad Rafique and Nazir Mohammad were neighbors residing at Dadapir Roja, Kachani Masjid, Jamalpura in Ahmedabad. Rafique used to object to the 'nuisance' created by Nazir's pet dog. When his complaints had no effect on the pet's owner, he persuaded the Ahmedabad municipality to trap the dog when it was moving on the street.
On the evening of May 22, 1997, Nazir confronted Rafique as to why he got his dog trapped by the civic authority. Rafique's curt reply that "the dog was creating a nuisance on the street" angered Nazir who along with his associates rained blows on him.
After the assault, Rafique walked to the police station and lodged a complaint before going to hospital. The police filed a charge sheet against Nazir and his associates accusing them of assaulting Rafique. In March 1999, the magistrate found the case to be a fight on the spur of the moment and acquitted the accused. The state appealed in the HC, challenging the acquittal. Six months later, the HC upheld the trial court verdict.
The state realized its folly in pursuing a trivial case till the HC level and declined to go any further. Dissatisfied, Rafique moved the SC challenging the HC order. Now a Bench comprising Justices B N Agrawal, P P Naolekar and B Sudershan Reddy dismissed the case on Thursday, but not before expressing annoyance over such trivial litigation traveling up to the level of SC, meant to decide important constitutional issues and questions.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a young Indian cricketer who came to news after hard hitting many strong sixes & fours at a fast pace in cricket matches. He is also the current wicketkeeper of Indian cricket team. He has an impressive run rate & is the darling of youth in India. He is into modeling also & his long haircut is the trademark of his impressive personality. He hails from Ranchi in Jharkhand state of India.
Now here is a weird incentive being offered by one Jharkhand beauty parlour, which has offered incentives to clients based on the number of runs made by wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the World Cup.
Kaya, a beauty parlour in the Hariom Tower, first snipped a bit of spotlight for itself when Dhoni, who hails from Ranchi, had a haircut here last year.
'I am a great fan of Dhoni. I have offered incentives to my clients depending on the runs made by Dhoni. If he scores one run, the fans will get one percent rebate in haircut, shaving, dye, facial and other services,' said Vijay Modi, the owner of the saloon.
He said: 'If Dhoni scores 50 runs, then the clients will get a 50 percent rebate. And if he scores a century, the first five clients coming in can avail of free services and gifts.'
The incentives will last 'till India's chances are alive in the World Cup'.

Bhopal in India is the capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh & is known as the City of Lakes as its landscape is dotted with a number of man-made as well as natural lakes. In this City of Lakes now you can tickle your taste buds at a unique restaurant that looks every inch like a stationary train at a platform.
The rail-coach restaurant-cum-bar, Shan-e-Bhopal, has been built by converting an unused train bogie, with the backdrop of actual sights and sounds of a railway platform. The atmosphere is colonial.
The restaurant is located at Hotel Ashoka Lakeview here and is open to the public.
The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) had come up with the idea in a bid to promote tourism.
The eatery has been equipped with all the railway paraphernalia, including lights and signals. Actual sounds of a railway platform are being played for special effect. A railway signal has been installed to indicate whether the restaurant is open or closed.
Its other specialties include cast iron furniture, silver cutlery and crockery, old-fashioned street lamps, lanterns and signals that were used by the Great India Peninsular Railway way back in 1849.
'Interestingly, many dishes served at the restaurant have been named after various parts of a bogie and the railway engine. The dishes include Indian, Chinese and Continental,' says A.K. Sen, an MPTDC chef.
'This is the first restaurant in the world to be prepared on a railway theme. The railways are planning to add another coach to the eatery in the near future,' said Dilip Shrivastava, assistant engineer, MPTDC.

Thousands of people are flocking to see the images of Jesus Christ in India which are said to be bleeding from its heart. Christians from nearby area are gathering in great numbers at the Bishop's House of Churches in Andaman in India. Eric Nathaniel, a Police Radio Operator, who purchased the portrait a few years back said that,''I bought the portrait of the 'sacred heart' at Car Nicobar during the Durga Pooja mela in 2003. It was just a year before the tsunami destroyed most of Car Nicobar Island, killing thousands of people and rendering the survivors homeless,'' Nathaniel added.
Nathaniel's family witnessed the incident for the first time on March 8 when he along with his family returned home after a routine shopping. The family was stunned to see the portrait bleeding.
Blood seemed to flow from the heart of Jesus in the portrait, which stood on a small table in their house. The family, however, maintained a low profile about the incident and never disclosed the matter to anyone.
''I was afraid no one would believe it and we would be criticized for talking about something which is foolish in the eyes of the world,'' Nathaniel was quoted as saying.
''We lit candles and prayed and after some time the blood dried,'' he added.
''Again on March 10, at about the same time in the evening, my family noticed blood on the portrait. Blood also oozed from the hands and heart of another portrait of Jesus, which hung on the wall in an adjacent room. However, we decided not to tell anybody.
Later on March 13, the family again witnessed the same incident. This time the family again decided not to confine the news to themselves. ''This time it did not stop. The blood flowed continually until March 18,'' Nathaniel said.
Many people, including some journalists, also witnessed the incident.
''Call it a miracle or a mystery, it appeared to be true. There was something unusual as there was no chance that a laminated cardboard portrait could bleed,'' said Denis Giles, Editor of a local Andaman daily and Andaman Chronicle, who first reported the incident.
Finally, priests of Anglican Church of Northern India took the portrait to CNI church and the portrait was kept there for public viewing.
''The portrait bled even after it was taken to the Bishop's house,'' Denis said.
For some this is a miracle while for others this is a mystery, says Nathaniel.

In India weird news keep coming every now & then. Earlier a man biting dog made news & now comes a news that here's a man in India who eats - not dogs, but live snakes!!!! How weird????
Meet weird young man Shyam Atulkar, a 24-year-old who catches snakes, and even eats them live at times. He hails from a village Simjera of Betul district of Madhya Pradesh state in India.
Last week, some people in the Ajni railway quarters here came rushing to Shyam and took him away to a house nearby where a big snake had slithered inside a pit. Shyam went to catch the snake and returned soon after with a seven-feet rat snake twined around his neck.
His newly married sister-in-law Arti had wanted to see Shyam catch a reptile. 'My husband had once told me about his brother's prowess but I was curious to see Shyam holding a reptile in his hands,' Arti said.
Prodded by onlookers, Shyam also started gobbling up the reptile but soon relinquished the feast in deference to an elderly man's advice. 'I liked the taste of snakes, especially the tail-end, which tastes like raw mutton,' he said. 'The head and neck tastes somewhat bitter because of the poison.'
Shyam claims to have also preyed upon all types of lizards 'including the wild, black variety that is more poisonous than snakes', he claims. 'Once I also bit a ferocious dog that had gone on a biting spree in our locality in Junnardeo,' he recalled. The dog, like all his reptile victims, died instantly. Read more........

In a country, where there are millions of people who live below the poverty line & are unable to get two square meals a day to fill their stomach, there are creches & daycare centres for dogs, there are Home-Care Dog Food services that caters to the dogs only, where dog's get home delivery of food as per their likes, dislikes, allergies etc. If that was not enough, here is also a hotel / Centre known as "Kennel1" in Gurgaon city near to New-Delhi, capital of India & this centre is equipped with an AC room, a common kitchen with a cook, a swimming pool exclusively for dogs and two floors of meticulously sanitized 14-15 kennels — where each dog is given a private sleeping area.
All this comes at a cost of Rs 200-250 per day. But more and more owners who love their dogs — and make no bones about it — are opting to book their canine companions into Gurgaon's Kennel1.
Like any 'regular' hotel, Kennel1 comes with a pick-up and drop facility for its clients in Delhi and the NCR region. A chauffeur driven air-conditioned Toyota Innova or a Wagon R are used for the purpose. The charges vary as per the distance. For instance a Noida pickup costs Rs 400 as compared to Rs 300 from Delhi.
Once inside, dogs can expect the very best. The hotel is equipped with 7-8 dog handlers who give 24 hour care and company to their canine guests. During activity time like training, grooming, eating, swimming, agility exercises and general walking: the canines are always accompanied by handlers, who give them individual attention to avoid infighting. In Cricket-crazy India people are trying everything to know in advance what shall happen in this Cricket World Cup. People in India are praying also in the temples for the Indian Cricket team to win this World Cup. But many Indians are looking skywards to discover if their players are shaping up to bring home the World Cup after the April 28 final.
A popular Indian astrology Web site, www.ganeshaspeaks.com, is offering in-depth details on planetary positions on match days and the changing biorhythm circles of each player.
The Web site is named after the elephant-headed Hindu God, Lord Ganesha.
The cricket-frenzy in the country, home to around 1.1 billion people, has been fuelled by a multitude of television channels and media houses who are tracking the action minute by minute.
India, 1983 winners, begin their campaign on Saturday with a Group B match against Bangladesh.
NEW CHAMPION
Astrologers, numerologists and tarot card readers are being asked to predict the winner of the World Cup that opened this week, while this Web site attempts the same through a multi-dimensional analysis.
"Ganesha feels that we will have a new world champion this time," was the Web site's forecast.
"If Australia reaches the semi-final as a second or third team they may have better chances to make it to the final," it said of the world champions, who are aiming to become the first team to win a hat-trick of World Cup titles.
"(But) if Australia reaches the final they might not be able to win."
It said astrological aspects favor South Africa, New Zealand and West Indies to take three of the semi-final slots.
Analyzing the astrology profile, biorhythm report and element chart of each member of the 16 participating teams, the Web site predicted that India had an equal chance of qualifying for the fourth semi-final spot along with Australia and Sri Lanka.
"India's fate will heavily depend on the fourth game of the Super Eight matches. Toss will become very important and to chose batting/bowling will have strong impact over the game's outcome," said the Web site which also predicts outcomes of the English Premier League football.

“The old hostel culture of camaraderie and socialising among students is gone. This is not healthy in our opinion.”
Depression and dysfunctional lifestyles are known to be common among IIT students, and at least nine have committed suicide in the past five years. IIT-Mumbai has seen two suicides in two years and several attempts.

Can you ever imagine that in this Jet age, there is a place in India where people use donkeys only as a means of transportation? From a newly wed couple to a load of cargo -- donkeys carry everything in Mahishgote, a village just a few kilometres from Kolkata in West Bengal State of India. A visit to Mahishgote, in Howrah district, is a journey back into time.
Whether it's ferrying a marriage party or building material, there's little choice but to use donkeys here. Please note: The 6,000-people village is close to the high-speed showpiece highway under the Golden Quadrilateral project.
'We have nothing but donkeys as our key means of transport. They carry everything and everyone. The roads are so narrow that only donkeys can traverse them,' explained Sanat Kumar Hodai, a villager.
But villagers such as Abdul Aziz and Laksman Pal, who rent out donkeys, are happy.
'I have been running this business for four years. It's quite lucrative. I charge Rs.300-400 for carrying 1,000 bricks and Rs.1,500 for carrying one truck of sand as there's no other means of transport in the village,' said Abdul Aziz, who owns four donkeys. Read more.........

Police in India’s Western state of Gujarat are to wear new uniforms impregnated with the fragrance of flowers and citrus to help improve their image.
“Most policemen look hassled, drenched in sweat after coming from any scene of crime,” said Somesh Singh, a designer at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad that drew up the uniforms on request of the state government. “They are surely not the best person one would like to meet, but if they smell good and fresh one might as well approach them,” said Singh.
The uniforms, to be introduced in the next few months to the state’s 300,000 police, use cotton with a fragrant finish, reflective prints and fiber optic technology to make sure the uniform not only smells good but glows at night so officials can be located easily . The uniforms will retain the scent even after washing as the fragrance is embedded in the cotton during processing. Some police say they are eager to try out the new uniforms.

The Jagannath Temple at Puri in Orissa State of India is a famous Hindu temple & is dedicated to Lord Jagannath which is another form of mythological Lord Vishnu. It's a 12th century shrine. This temple is a pilgrimage spot for all the Hindus. The temple is also famous for its Rath Yatra i.e. Chariot festival, in which huge and beautifully decorated chariots are used for the procession of various deities.
An American tourist has good reason to feel shortchanged after his visit to a Hindu holy site in eastern India on Friday_ not only was he kicked out for being a non-Hindu, he was also fined 209 rupees (US$4.70; euro3.60) by irate temple priests.
The man, identified by officials at the Jagannath Temple in the city of Puri as Paul Roediger, a 59-year-old engineer from New York, was handed over to police along with two Hindu friends who went in with him, said temple spokesman L.D. Pujapanda.
"The men were released later after they said that they were unaware of the temple rules. However, Mr. Paul was fined 209 rupees as per the temple law," Pujapanda said.
Roediger left shortly afterward and could not be found for comment.
The temple, dedicated to Jagannath, an incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu, is particularly popular with Hindus because all casts are allowed in.
That tolerance is not extended to non-Hindus. The temple once famously refused entrance to then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi because she married a non-Hindu, forcing her to view the shrine from across the street.
Puri, once of the four holiest Hindu pilgrim sites, is 60 kilometers (37 miles) east of Bhubaneswar, the capital of the eastern state of Orissa.
