An Indian wedding turned to horror on Thursday when the bride was shot dead by a cousin who believed she had "cheated" on him. Dr. Jaishri Namdeo, 29, was standing with her groom onstage in the city of Bhopal when Anurag Singh allegedly stormed up the aisle and shot her at point-blank range. Bhopal: In a shocking instance of absolute helplessness, a poor tribal farmer in Madhya Pradesh had to trek 14 kilometres with his teenage daughter’s body on a makeshift bier tied to his bicycle to get her autopsy done.The local police in his village had told the farmer it was his responsibility to take the body for the autopsy because there were no vehicles in the place.

Gokul Gond, a tribal farmer from Dudhmunia village, was Monday yet to come to terms with the death of his 16-year-old daughter Sohaga, who had reportedly consumed poison Saturday.

Bhopal: An eight-year-old tribal girl was allegedly branded with iron rods several times by a hostel superintendent in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol district, officials said Wednesday.Shushila, a Class 3 student, was studying at Adivasi Kanya Ashram in Shahdol and living in the school hostel.

The latest incident reportedly took place Jan 4 when hostel superintendent Anita Sant took Shushila from her hostel room to her office and subjected her to the torture.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government plans to write “I am poor” on walls of houses of people who hold ‘below poverty line’ (BPL) cards to discourage the non-deserving families from availing benefits of the scheme, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said recently.

Talking to newsmen on the conclusion of the four-day special assembly session, convened to discuss the issue of creating a golden state, the chief minister said the government was compelled to curtail the foodgrain quota of the poor because the central government was providing grains for 41 lakh BPL families while there were 61 lakh such families in the state. Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): "I found this exhibition quite exciting as I came to know that in States like Tamil Nadu, ghosts are worshipped. I belong to Uttar Pradesh and nothing like this happens there," said Gaurav Saxena, a visitor.
