'Parents' kept their child chained along side the dog.

Here is an instance from a place "Idukki" in Kerala state of India where parents of a three-year-old child kept their child chained at home along side the family's pet dog. They were charged with attempt to murder and also under juvenile justice laws and were sent to judicial custody here.

The 'parents', Benny, 35, and Manju, 34, and Benny's father Antony, 65, were arrested after a relative of theirs brought the matter to light.

Tomb of a Dog / 'Kutha Ka Qabr'

In Indian history, it was very common for Muslim rulers to raise tombs for themselves and also for their relatives but a tomb for a dog is something many would not have come across & may find it weird.

But here in Bidar in Karnataka state of India which is bestowed with many such magnificent tombs belonging to the rulers of the erstwhile Bahmani and Barid Shahi dynasties, there lies a "Kutha Ka Qabr" or "Tomb of a Dog", which is a small tomb dedicated to a devoted dog, which was killed by its master unknowingly.

This tomb of the dog has not got its due owing to the significance attached to the tombs of great rulers of the dynasties which ruled Bidar.

The tomb of the dog is located to the west of Ibrahim Barid’s tomb in the city. Ibrahim Barid was a ruler of Barid dynasty.

A Karnataka Tourism booklet says there is history behind the tomb. The booklet adds that a devoted dog saved the life of its master but was killed by its master under the mistaken impression that it had harmed his friend.

This MLA has Ghosts, Python as pets

Here is a politician "Anant Singh" who is JD(U) MLA from Mokama in Bihar State of India & this man is having a "weird hobby" of keeping a python as his pet. He too claims to having ghosts also as his pets.

On Thursday, he proudly displayed his new "pet" -- a python -- before a section of the electronic media. Coiled up in a glass case, the reptile was on some TV channels with the MLA once lifting it to put around his neck.

Tall, slim and heavily-moustached, Anant is always surrounded by toughies. And he talks tough. "I have also got some 'bhoots' (ghosts) as my pets. I have them... I have them... I can show you but do you have enough courage to see my ghosts?" he dared the media men, defiantly.

He is the same Anant Singh who was facing over two dozen criminal cases & was released from Buxar jail earlier. He had won in elections earlier from Mokama seat defeating a kin of LJP MP Suraj Bhan Singh.

Even as the forest officials were talking to the MLA, some media men were watching the python drinking milk from a bowl in the glass case in one of the rooms in the MLA's flat.

Pet dies & Couple commit Suicide

Infatuation to any human being is not good, so says the Vedas & Hindus Scriptures. But what would you call to so much Infatuation to your Pet Dog that after his death you are forced to commit suicide!!!!!!!!!!! May be answer lies in loneliness felt by old couples all around the world, when they are forsaken by their own sons & daughters, near & dear ones. Now if one such couple fell in love with their Pet dog, who was with them for 13 years & after the death of their Pet dog, who was their only near & dear one, they were so distressed that they didn't find any meaning to their lives & committed suicide.............

Indeed similar seems to have happened to a couple in Hyderabad city in South India.
Unable to come to terms with the death of their pet dog, an elderly couple here committed suicide by hanging themselves.

The bodies of 67-year-old retired soldier C N Madanraj and his wife, Tarabai, 63, were found on Sunday in their home.

According to the police, the childless couple had held a burial ceremony for their dog of 13 years called "Puppy". They also hosted a feast for friends before hanging themselves in their bedroom.

"The couple described the grief over their pet dog in the suicide note they left on March 29," police inspector V Anantaiah, said.

Pet Dog case drags for 10 yrs

In India it is very common that legal court cases goes on for years together but what you would call to it, if a dispute between neighbors over a pet dog became a court case and lasted for 10 years. Ironically, it remained pending for nearly seven years in the Supreme Court.

Mohammad Rafique and Nazir Mohammad were neighbors residing at Dadapir Roja, Kachani Masjid, Jamalpura in Ahmedabad. Rafique used to object to the 'nuisance' created by Nazir's pet dog. When his complaints had no effect on the pet's owner, he persuaded the Ahmedabad municipality to trap the dog when it was moving on the street.

On the evening of May 22, 1997, Nazir confronted Rafique as to why he got his dog trapped by the civic authority. Rafique's curt reply that "the dog was creating a nuisance on the street" angered Nazir who along with his associates rained blows on him.

After the assault, Rafique walked to the police station and lodged a complaint before going to hospital. The police filed a charge sheet against Nazir and his associates accusing them of assaulting Rafique. In March 1999, the magistrate found the case to be a fight on the spur of the moment and acquitted the accused. The state appealed in the HC, challenging the acquittal. Six months later, the HC upheld the trial court verdict.

The state realized its folly in pursuing a trivial case till the HC level and declined to go any further. Dissatisfied, Rafique moved the SC challenging the HC order. Now a Bench comprising Justices B N Agrawal, P P Naolekar and B Sudershan Reddy dismissed the case on Thursday, but not before expressing annoyance over such trivial litigation traveling up to the level of SC, meant to decide important constitutional issues and questions.
