School introduces comic books in history classes

Earlier there used to be a joke on college campuses that a thorough reading of comics was good enough to pass university exams. Now a school in Mumbai in Maharashtra state of India has actually included comics as part of their course materials for class VI. Comics for Young Men

Till now it was presumed that Comics are for kids only but not any more now. In India a set of comics for Young Men have come which have messages on HIV/AIDS embedded in it.

Around 250,000 copies of these pocket-sized comics have been sent for distribution in urban slums of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. 'Sachin Tendulkar', Comic Superhero!!!!!!!!!!!

India's master blaster cricketer 'Sachin Tendulkar' is to be featured as a superhero in a new range of comic books, animation and games to hit the stands in June.

The batsman is his country's best known face following his exploits with the bat since his debut as a curly-haired 16-year-old in 1989.

The character is to be known as "Sachin Tendulkar -- the Master Blaster" and the advanced images released by Virgin Comics on Saturday shows him dressed as a modern animation action hero.

Dressed in a body armour, the superhero wields a flaming cricket bat.

"In this new venture, Sachin (Tendulkar) hopes to bring more excitement and joy to Indian children and share with them another new dream of 'being Sachin'," a press release from Virgin Comics said.

Tendulkar, 33, holds the records for most hundreds in tests (35) and one-dayers (41) and most runs in one-day cricket (14,783).
