Vellore dad drowns 2 girls, says he's no means to raise them

VELLORE: A father of three murdered his two daughters by drowning them in a well in a village near Vellore on Tuesday morning. Later, confessing to the crime, the leather worker said he did it because he did not have the means to raise them although he had spared his four-month-old son.

An employee of a leather shoe-making unit in Melvisaram village in Vellore district, Mohamed Ali, 30, had approached the Arcot taluk police at 11 am on Tuesday and lodged a complaint that his baby girls, Taniya Tashiba, 3 and Ghaziya Nashiba, 2 were missing from his house since morning.

Superintendent of police TS Anbu said a complaint was lodged and investigations conducted, during which family members informed them that they had spotted two strangers on a motorbike near their residence, and they suspected that their babies may have been kidnapped. MUZAFFARNAGAR (UP): A khap panchayat (caste council) banned girls from wearing jeans. Village elders blamed the attire for provoking eve-teasing and encouraging young couples to elope.

Man Who Married One Girl a Month For Five Years

Darjeeling: A 27-year-old with multiple identities who managed to marry almost one girl a month for five years and sell them to brothels in Pune and Mumbai has been arrested by Darjeeling police.

The arrest of Bikky Biswakarma alias Bishal Chhetri alias Prakash Rai from his Kalchini residence in Jalpaiguri district yesterday has helped police trace at least nine girls so far. The police believe they will be able to find the whereabouts of another “seven to eight” girls.

Mother drowns her girls

In a fit of anger, Vinoda (30), a resident of Bangalore in Karnataka state of India wanted to kill herself along with her two daughters. She survived but her two girls did not.

Cop Drowns Girls For Taking Firewood

In a shocking incident a drunk police officer has killed two young girls by throwing them in a river for stealing firewood.

The pair, aged six and 13, had sneaked into the man's orchard with friends.

As per a news report, policeman threw the two girls into a fast-flowing river and they drowned.

He was helped by another man. Both have since fled.

The incident happened in Manipur village under Mathurapur police station in Samastipur district, about 90 km from Patna in Bihar state of India.

Catastrophic monsoon flooding in the region has made food and fuel scarce.

The case has shed light on the class system in India.

Members of the upper classes - such as the policeman - in rural areas often treat those at the bottom of the Hindu caste system as lesser human beings.

Co-education system is 'unlawful' - says Fatwa

It seems Muslim Clerics in India are in a habit of issuing "Religious Decrees" / "Fatwas" every now & then which at time seems amazing & weird. Earlier once they said Mobile ringtones are un-islamic, read "Quran Verses As Ringtones, Not Allowed". Then recently they declared Suicide is 'Un-Islamic'. Now here comes another one which says that Co-education system is “unlawful” as such an arrangement in colleges and universities spawn a “number of evils”. As per this decree boys & girls cannot study in the same college / university.

Darul Uloom-Deoband, one of the oldest and prestigious Islamic seminaries in the world, has issued the fatwa (202/L) on July 1.

The latest fatwa answered a question which went: “Is it permitted for girls to go to co-educational schools after they reach puberty?”

The fatwa, to begin with, said “it was unlawful for women to meet mahram men without a hijab or mix with them”. Anyone (whom a Muslim is not allowed to get married to) from the opposite sex who has reached puberty is considered a mahram. The second part of the same fatwa went against the “deeni classes” where “grown-up” boys and girls attend the same madrasas. “Such deeni classes, where boys and girls are taught together, are un-Islamic and attending such classes is not allowed”. The second part of the fatwa answered the question: “Is it permitted to go to deeni classes if boys and girls are taught together?”
