Naked girls plough fields in India for rain

PATNA, India – Farmers in an eastern Indian state have asked their unmarried daughters to plough parched fields naked in a bid to embarrass the weather gods to bring some badly needed monsoon rain, officials said on Thursday.

Witnesses said the naked girls in Bihar state ploughed the fields and chanted ancient hymns after sunset to invoke the gods. They said elderly village women helped the girls drag the ploughs. Read More................Naked girls plough fields in India for rain

Manhole memo prompts Mumbai municipal mutterings

MUMBAI - Mumbai city officials are upset by an American warning about the risks of falling into manholes in India's commercial capital during the monsoon season.

An item posted on the U.S. consulate website said that municipal workers in Mumbai sometimes open manhole covers at times of heavy flooding and then leave them unattended and unmarked.

Rains create havoc in India

Isn't it strange that an economy which is rising at 9-10 % per annum is unable to control the basic thing as rains in its major cities. Here are few pictures of the India's metropolitan cities, Mumbai & Kolkata which have been devastated by Monsoon Rains over there this year.

It's high time Indian Government takes some emergency measures to control the devastation caused by the rains in India.
