Temple Sells Human Hair for USD 28 Million

Hyderabad: This is a hair-raising achievement by one of the richest temples in India, the Tirumala temple. The temple administration managed to gather a whopping Rs 133 crore (USD 28 Million) by auctioning off human hair offered by the devotees to the deity. The temple in Andhra Pradesh is known for the unique offering made by the throngs of pilgrims who visit the holy place each year.

The e-auction of the hair was conducted for the first time by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and garnered lush returns. The TTD managed to auction as much as 65,000 kg of various categories of hair. It has been reported that close to 49 traders took part in the auction. Two scientists face charge of attempting human sacrifice

Bhopal: A case has been slapped against two senior scientists of the Defence Research and Development Establishment (DRDE), Gwalior, who were accused of attempting to use their junior colleague as a human sacrifice, police said Sunday.

Shradha Sharma, wife of Sushil Kumar, a junior scientist at the DRDE, in her complaint to the police Saturday night accused two senior scientists at the DRDE of being involved in witchcraft and attempting to make a human sacrifice of her husband. Doors made of human poo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It may sound bizzare, but doors and window planks made of human faeces instead of wood has become a possibility!

India's sanitation specialist Sulabh International, led by its visionary founder Bindeshwar Pathak, has succeeded in developing a strong raw material out of human waste and Mexico-based designers Santiago Sierra and Mariana David have designed doors out it.

Kids pick human bones for a living

At the busiest crematorium in this Tamil Nadu temple town in southern India, the quiet work of a group of little boys is more heart-rending than the wails of bereaved relatives.

Human Skulls & Bones Smuggling

These human skulls and bones were not for any medicinal study purpose but were for its use in Buddhist monasteries. Police in eastern Indian city "Jaigaon" have discovered a stash of hundreds of human skulls and thigh bones and arrested a gang for allegedly smuggling them to the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan for use in Buddhist monasteries.

Jaigaon (also spelt Jaygaon) is a small town in Jalpaiguri district in the Indian state of West Bengal in India, near the Bhutan border where all this trade is happening.

"During interrogation they confessed that the hollow human thigh bones were in great demand in monasteries and were used as blow-horns, and the skulls as vessels to drink from at religious ceremonies," as per the investigating officer Ravinder Nalwa.

Buddhist monks in India said human thigh bones and skulls were used by followers of a Tibetan school of Buddhism.

They suspect some bones may even have ended up as far away as Thailand and Japan.

In April, police discovered what they called a "human bones factory" in the state, and arrested six people for illegally trading in skeletons. The bones were apparently being sold to medical students and for use in traditional medicine.

Where Vultures Eat Human Corpses

Parsis are members of the Zoroastrian community based in India & many of them dwell in Bombay City of India. Parsis are descendents of Persian Zoroastrians who emigrated to the India over 1,000 years ago to escape the religious persecution after the Islamic Conquest over there.

Indian Parsis have a tradition that after the death of a person in their community / family, they leave the corpse in open at the Towers of Silence - the Funeral Place of the Parsis, where the corpses are devoured by vultures. Though it may seem to be a weird tradition among the community but it is happening since very long past time. Now this weird tradition of devouring the corpses by vultures is not working properly as in the Bombay City, where most of Parsis community is there, vulture population in the city is decreasing day by day & it takes months for a body to be devoured by these vultures while deaths are happening at its own pace.

Now what the Parsis community should do? It is more advisable to either put the body to flames like done in Hindu Tradition or Bury it, as done in Muslim & Christen religion. Otherwise also if you live with your loved ones for the whole of the life, his/her body should be given a respectable treatment after death & should not be left to be eaten by vultures. Let us show our love & respect to our Loved ones even after their death, irrespective of our religion.
