India lost $462 billion in illicit financial flows: Report

Post independence, India lost a staggering $462 billion in illicit financial flows due to tax evasion, crime and corruption, a research and advocacy group said in a report today.

The report, The Drivers and Dynamics of Illicit Financial Flows from India: 1948-2008', released by Washington-based Global Financial Integrity (GFI) found that the faster rates of economic growth since economic reform started in 1991 led to a deterioration of income distribution which led to more illicit flows from the country. Commonwealth Games bosses praying to rain gods

After the deluge of corruption and inefficiency charges, it is the unexpected bout of rain that is giving Commonwealth Games organisers nightmares. Special pujas are being held to pray for a "fair-weather" event!

"We are praying to the rain gods to stop pouring in Delhi," said a worried member of the organising committee.

The continuing heavy downpour in Delhi has further delayed preparatory works for the Oct 3-14 event. The organising committee reportedly used the heavy rains to justify the delay when Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennel met them. Most inefficient bureaucracy in Asia

India has the most inefficient bureaucracy in Asia and red-tape is much worse than in China, says a survey.

In the ranking of 12 countries, India has been named as having the most inefficient bureaucracy followed by Indonesia and the Philippines, according to the survey of expatriate business executives conducted by the Hong Kong-based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy (PERC).

Quoting the consultancy, news agency AFP has reported that bureaucratic red-tape is a serious problem in India and China but "the differences in the political systems of these two countries have made inertia much worse in India than in China". Brazen corruption, crime of mindboggling proportions, massive land-grabbing, sexual perversions and aberrations of every hue in India! All of these have one thing in common -- you can get away with it all if you have political clout. That is the curse of democracy in India.

Such depressing situations came to haunt me even during a short 10-day stay in Chennai recently. Nothing, not even widespread coverage on televisions and newspapers, deters our influential criminals. Perhaps capital punishment will.

Last rites of 'corruption'

Patna (Bihar): Two young men have carried out the last rites for the dead in Bihar, not for their ancestors but for corruption, hoping to bury the practice once and for all.

The activity was aimed at sending a message of no corruption.

Whenever there is a Cricket match between India & Pakistan, the whole thing becomes so emotional that Cricket fans of both countries get involved with their team's performance so much, as if it is not a Cricket match but an Indo-Pakistan War. It's do or die situation for both the teams & players know that they shall have to face the wrath of their countrymen if they lose the game. In game, sometimes one team wins, sometimes it lose too & it goes on.

But this time India has surely won over Pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just think........ in what thing.............Heh, in "Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI)............As per the CPI, though India is among one of the most Corrupt nations, Pakistan is much worse. As per one Independent international agency -Transparency International, India has been ranked a lowly 74, two steps down since last year among 180 countries of the world in Corruption, while Pakistan occupies 140th place.

Anyway it's no Pride for India, rather Shame to be so lowly at 74 among 180 countries of the world. Our Government & other social machinery in India need to clean itself to purge itself of this scourge of Corruption.

Bribe is Official now!!!!!

Bribe is official now at least with Municipal Corporation of Ghaziabad (MCG) in Uttar Pradesh State of India. Over here MCG has institutionalize the corruption as it was unable to check the corruption.

Isn't it weird that, MCG is now officially accepting bribes paid through cheques ( Pay orders) that would otherwise have gone into the pockets of its officials. Read more.......A municipality that officially takes bribes!
