'Sari'- of 1,64,492 colors
A Sari is a traditional dress of an Indian woman. Just think, how many colors any piece of cloth can contain 2, 3, 4, 5, 10.............just hold on, Here is an interesting report courtesy Rediff.com & as per that here is a piece of Sari, Dubbed 'Mayil Thogai' (a peacock's feather) which has 1,64,492 colors in it!!!!!! It's a silk Sari & is also on the way to the Guinness Book of World Records.
This exclusive piece of Sari has been created by Co-optex, the Tamil Nadu Handloom Wevaers' Cooperative Society, in association with Sirumugaipudur Sri Ramalinga Sowdeswari Handloom Weavers' Co-operative Society in Coimbatore.
More than 15 weavers wove this sari that has 164 colors in the warp and 1003 colors in the weft. It was just woven in 25 days. On this Sari, it has the Madurai Sri Meenakshi Amman Koil, and on the borders are woven the seven wonders of the world, i.e. the Egyptian pyramid, the Taj Mahal, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower of Paris, the Great wall of China, the Empire State building in the USA and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
Each Sari is priced at Indian Rs 40,000 ( US $ 890 ).
