As per a report, On Saturday, Swiss world number one Roger Federer swapped his tennis racket for a cricket bat for child survivors of the Asian tsunami in India. At Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu state of India, Roger hit a tennis ball with the wooden bat, bowled by enthusiastic boys at a permanent shelter camp over there. Federer was on a visit to Cuddalore and other areas around Pondicherry this weekend as a United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) goodwill ambassador.

On December 26, 2004 thousands of people including many children were made homeless & many were killed when the tsunami slammed into its crowded coast. At Pudupettai rehabilitation colony which is some 180 km south of Chennai, the Tamil Nadu state capital in India, hundreds of people including children watched the cricket game played on an old red coir mat that was placed on a makeshift pitch.
