In India where millions of rural families do not have the basic amenities, over here, as per one report, Politicians in Calcutta which happens to be the Capital of West Bengal state in India, have spent around Indian Rupees 30 Lakhs ( US $ 66,848) for an Opulent public bathhouse modeled on the Sydney Opera House. This shall be the most expensive public lavatory in India.

Users of such lavish public lavatory shall have to shell out Indian Rupees, 5 (10 cents) , whereas normally one Indian rupee (2 cents) on an average is spent for most pedestrian public bathhouses. This Opulent public facility has been criticized by many & people see it to be the extravagance on the part of the Government.
