'Jain Potato'- French Fries

In India, Jain community people as per their religious belief refrain from having any vegetable that is grown underground. All know that potatoes are grown underground only. But now a farmer Girish Akbari has done lot of research & has come up with a variety of potatoes that grows above the ground. Girish Akbari hails from Rajkot, India & he did his research in his farm in Patarpur village in Una taluka.

He had sent it for testing at the Saurasthra University's biotechnology department & as per them this variety has more protein than those grown underground. It also contains less starch and calories while it had similar amount of fiber as per the biotechnology department . As per Girish Akbari , new variety tastes same as of other potatoes grown underground.

Now Jain Community people can eat all the favorite dishes like Pav-Bhaji , Potato Vada, Potato Curry, French fries etc. made of potatoes. Inventor has named the new variety as 'Jain Potato' only. Now there is every reason to have a smile on the faces of people of Jain Community.
