Chugalchi ka Maqbara, the tomb of the slanderer, attracts hundreds of visitors every day. It is the tomb of a courtier, Bholu Sayeed, who was held responsible for a clash between two ancient Indian kings that left a trail of death and destruction more than five centuries ago. These Families make Burial ground home

PUDUCHERRY: Eleven-year-old Sharmila, a fifth standard student, helps her sisters Sharada (9) and Gayathri (5) and brothers Velan (4) and Velmurugan (6) in their studies every day.

Her mother Subha who is expecting a baby in two months, is keen to educate all her children. Deserted by her husband, 28-year-old Bhuvaneswari, a mother of two, is struggling hard to make both ends meet.

Tomb of a Dog / 'Kutha Ka Qabr'

In Indian history, it was very common for Muslim rulers to raise tombs for themselves and also for their relatives but a tomb for a dog is something many would not have come across & may find it weird.

But here in Bidar in Karnataka state of India which is bestowed with many such magnificent tombs belonging to the rulers of the erstwhile Bahmani and Barid Shahi dynasties, there lies a "Kutha Ka Qabr" or "Tomb of a Dog", which is a small tomb dedicated to a devoted dog, which was killed by its master unknowingly.

This tomb of the dog has not got its due owing to the significance attached to the tombs of great rulers of the dynasties which ruled Bidar.

The tomb of the dog is located to the west of Ibrahim Barid’s tomb in the city. Ibrahim Barid was a ruler of Barid dynasty.

A Karnataka Tourism booklet says there is history behind the tomb. The booklet adds that a devoted dog saved the life of its master but was killed by its master under the mistaken impression that it had harmed his friend.

'My son put a photocopy of his passport as he wanted to go to a Gulf country to get a job. The Baba fulfilled his wishes in just two months. He is now earning well in Saudi Arabia,' said Anwari Begum.

Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs are all among the Baba's followers. People also come here with photocopies of their mark sheets, admit cards, passports, love letters and other wishes, which they pin up on the trees.
