Men in women’s attire celebrate Holi

Bikaner: Bikaner male dancers celebrated the festival of colours 'Holi' by performing traditional dances while dressed in women's attire.

Holi celebrations of Bikaner come after the famous 'Lathmar Holi' festivities of Uttar Pradesh' Mathura city, where women playfully strike men with staves.

Unique football match on Holi

Bikaner (Rajasthan): Bikaner locals dressed up in different garbs and played a unique soccer match on the occasion of ‘Holi’, the festival of colours.

‘Phalgunya Football Match’ at the Pushkarna stadium is organized every year in the city.

Manoj Sharma, a participant, said, “We have been organizing this ‘Phalgunya Football’ match in Bikaner for many years, and in this match participants are dressed up in different attires, as you can see me along with two others have come here as three idiots.”

No Holi for superstitious villagers

RAIGARH - They haven’t played Holi for over a century and blame an age old rumour. Dozens of families of seven villages in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district stayed away from Holi celebrations Monday, fearing that tigers would attack them if they defied the no-Holi tradition.

About 2,200 men and women of Hattapali, Mauhapali, Pardhiapali, Amlipali, Manjurpali, Chhinpatera and Jagdishpur villages were eager to celebrate the festival of colour but bowed to superstition that tigers would kill residents if they went against the self-imposed ban. Holi With Cow Dung to Appease Rain Gods

Lucknow, July 9: It is not about colours, but cow dung and unseasonal Holi. Residents of a village in Uttar Pradesh daub cow dung on one another in this Holi that is believed to appease the rain gods.
