12,000 Dogs force raised by Indian Army

As per a report, Indian Army has raised a unit of dogs & shall deploy them in anti-militancy operations. A strong dog army of 12,000 specialized dog breeds, mostly Labradors, German Shepherds and Belgian Shepherd dogs are there in this dog unit.

As per Lt Col S S Kashyap, a top Remount and Veterinary officer of the corp, Dogs have proved life savers for the forces in many instances as they have led patrols to deeply dug in explosives and mines in North-East as well as in Jammu and Kashmir state of India. This contribution from these dogs is being recognized by the Indian Army & Remount and Veterinary Corp Tableau ,who breeds these dogs has been approved for public display both at this year's Republic day Parade on January 26th and the Army Day Parade on January 15.
