We have all seen rats in our life & have often put mousetraps in our houses to catch them. But when they enter farmer's fields in thousands & destroy their precious crops, they become the enemy no one of the farmers. Same has happened with the farmers of northeastern district of Champhai in Mizoram - India. Over here as these rodents were creating Havoc in the paddy fields so villagers over there & in Puilo (some 150 km from state capital Aizawl) have killed around 10,000 rats to save their crops from the rodents.

As per the villagers more than 80 percent of their paddy crop is destroyed by these rats. As per the farmers, as rats have devastated most of their paddy crop so they will face acute shortage of rice supply from their fields.
