We all know that peacock is a beautiful bird. When it dances in all splendour , everyone likes it & enjoy the beauty of the bird & its dance. But for the farmers in Chennimalai, Kangeyam, Perundurai, Nallampatty, Kanjikoil and Ammapet areas in Erode-Tamil Nadu -India, this bird is nowadays hated like anything. Reason being, as per the farmers, they have suffered a lot due to Peacocks in their area as they are causing damage to their vegetable fields.

These beautiful birds visit the fields of the farmers every morning and eat the crops and also damage them. They cannot kill the bird also as some religious aspect is also associated with the Peacock. As per them, Peacock is the `Vahanam'(Chariot) of Lord Muruga and also is a National Bird, so we do not want to kill it or hunt it down. So they have asked the Local district administration to have all peacocks caught and sent them to forest areas.

As per the farmers they are incurring a loss of more than Indian Rs 5,000 ( US $ 110) per day because of the peacocks. So the lesson is that every beautiful looking thing is only beautiful unless it does not cause you harm!!!!!!!
