Girl scores poor marks, forced by father to Beg

MYSORE: Enraged by his daughter's performance in Class VII exams, a father forced a girl to beg in her school uniform in front of a city temple.

As the 12-year-old girl, from a reputed school, sat weeping in front of a temple on Monday night, she caught the attention of MP Varsha, an NGO worker, who took her to a police station. There, she told her story: she was being punished by her father for not doing well in exams.

The father was arrested and a case registered against him under the Juvenile Justice Act. Angry neighbours damaged his car. He admitted he made his daughter beg in front of a temple. Drunk official forgets to deliver question papers

NAWADA: Scores of examinees went on rampage on the first day of the Intermidiate examination on Tuesday as a drunk education official arrived with question papers an hour after the exams began.

Nawada district education officer Sayeed Akhtar has removed the officer from duty and slapped him with a show cause notice.

Sources said intermediate examinees of economics, biology and commerce subjects at Nagar Madhya Vidyalaya, located in Nawada, resorted to stone-throwing as the question papers were delivered to them at 11 am, instead of scheduled 10 am. She Wrote With Her Feet to Pass Exams

Though she may be physically challenged but her resolve was to pass exams & this girl from Tripura state of India has passed her Class 10 board examinations by writing with her feet.

Swapna Biswas, aged 17 is born with a deformity that prevents both her hands from functioning. She belongs to Uttar Nalichara village in Dhalai district in Tripura state of India. Swapna fought her way through life without letting the disability prevent her from leading as normal a life as possible.

Swapna used her feet to do all daily chores, from cooking to fetching water, and learnt to write by holding her pen between her toes. Naturally, she was jubilant when she secured a second division in the Class 10 examinations.

"I want to pursue my studies as I have eyes and can write with my feet," Swapna said.

But abject poverty has forced her to sell puffed rice on the streets instead of seeking admission in a college.

Swapna lost her father, a daily wage earner, when she was a child. And the girl's mother says the family is too poor to fund Swapna's higher studies.
