People in the uptown Rawalpora area of the city Wednesday called the helpline telephone numbers set up by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) during the recent windstorm, complaining about the carcasses of two horses lying in the local swamp for the last fortnight. 'Dead' woman found alive dies in hospital two weeks later

Kochi,  Nearly two weeks after being declared as ''dead'' by police, a 68-year-old injured woman, who was battling for life at a hospital here finally gave up her struggle and passed away.

Mani, a retired school teacher, died yesterday, hospital officials said.

An Indian pilgrim knocked unconscious in a stampede that killed 150 people woke up in a morgue as doctors prepared to perform a postmortem examination on him, a newspaper reported Wednesday.

Mange Ram, 19, lost consciousness in the stampede triggered by rumours of a landslide that caused panic among thousands of people climbing a steep mountain path, the report said.

Ram told the Times of India he awoke in a hospital morgue after Sunday's tragedy at the Naina Devi shrine in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh.
