Man injects HIV+ blood in sister-in-law

Guntur (Andhra Pradesh): Infatuated with his 17-year-old sister-in-law who rejected his overtures, a man injected her with HIV positive blood and later attempted suicide, police said on Thursday.

C D Prabhakar (30) was pestering his wife’s sister, Lalitha to marry him but she rejected his proposal and so he tried to inject the HIV positive blood into her body when she was returning home alone on Wednesday evening here, police said.

NEW DELHI: A cell phone ring tone that sings "Condom, condom!" has been launched to promote safe sex in India, where condoms carry a strong social stigma and HIV and AIDS are growing problems, health experts said Tuesday.

Villager confesses his "affairs", whole village undergoes HIV test!

Sibatala, Bolangir (Orissa): Residents of a village here underwent HIV/AIDS test recently after learning about an HIV patient belonging to their village who claimed to have maintained physical relations with some women here.

Twenty nine-year-old Ratan, who is a resident of Sibtala Village that is 30 kilometers from Bolangir Sadar Block of Orissa, was tested HIV positive at the Berhampur Centre over six weeks ago.

But his revelation to media about physical revelations with many shocked everyone at his village.

The news soon triggered panic in the village and all the families of the village decided to undergo the HIV/AIDS test for precaution. "I have had sexual affair with many women, do not question the kind of relationship I have with them. There are two women who are from the village itself," said Ratan, the HIV positive person. New Delhi, India: A 'Bunti Aur Babli' visual trick game, a 'jadoo' photograph that changes colour and a chaupal dice game -- these are all part of a massive initiative to inculcate awareness about HIV/AIDS among villagers in a fun way. And it is showing results.

The initiative, launched by the central government's National Literacy Mission in tandem with the Unesco, involves tactful weaving in of facts on HIV/AIDS and women's empowerment through games during adult literacy classes in rural areas. Read more....

Here is the story of an HIV positive woman from Chhattisgarh state of India who has been driven by poverty to offer her newborn daughter for sale - and the little baby whom no one wants because she too is infected with the virus.

Comics for Young Men

Till now it was presumed that Comics are for kids only but not any more now. In India a set of comics for Young Men have come which have messages on HIV/AIDS embedded in it.

Around 250,000 copies of these pocket-sized comics have been sent for distribution in urban slums of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
