Is 'Kalpana Chawla' Reborn in India?
In India stories of reincarnation are very common. Every now & then we find small Childs in India claiming to remember their past lives, in which they tell exact details of their previous life. But is this story of a 4 yr old from India claiming to be the reincarnation of Kalpana Chawla true? The great India born astronaut "Kalpana Chawla" worked with NASA in United States of America & died on February 1, 2003 as the Columbia space shuttle on which she was returning to earth after a space mission, disintegrated 16 minutes prior to landing on earth.
Here is "Upasana", a 4 yr old Girl from Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. As per one IBN7 - TV report in India today, "Upasana", the little girl claims to be the reincarnation of "Kalpana Chawla".
"Upasana" was born on 23rd March 2003, while "Kalpana Chawla" died on Ist Feb. 2003. "Upasana" claims to be the reincarnation of "Kalpana Chawla". As per "Upasana", she is afraid of planes & claims that she died in the air, in an air crash. She has told Kalpana's father's name too & as per her claim she also knows about the Professors & Mentors of "Kalpana Chawla".
As per Upasana's father Raj Kumar,"Upasana has been telling us ever since she started speaking that her name was Kalpana Chawla and that her father's name was Banarsi Das Chawla but we could not figure out anything as we had never heard of Kalpana".
Now how true is the reincarnation claim of the "Upasana", the little girl as "Kalpana chawla", is debatable. Viewers comments are invited on this.

Really interesting. I just checked rediff news and goggled to see if it is a reality or just a faked up story?
I don't really know if one should believe in such stories or not. I had a friend who had a baby girl in the similar situation. She started talking early and used to ask for her previous home and family. Later did my friend found out that same family existed in some other part of the world and was the case of actual reincarnation.
But, the only question just keep coming back to my mind is, if there is re-incarnation, then why does the re-birth originate in India, and why does re-birth happen only in the same native land? Like in this case, she could have born in some other part of the globe, why India??
This story/fact should be considered seriously. Kaplana's parents and Upasana's meeting should be arranged and made some more confirmations that could be lead to NASA. If there's sureity of Upasana being Kalpana, the researchers could be able to get back into her memory and trace out what actually happened after the connection was lost between the Columbia and the NASA Center. More light could throen on the rest of the crew members. The Indian Government should take a leading step in finding out the truth of this reincarnation and play a helping leading role towards the wrold and NASA.

This story on "Kalpana Chawla" was shown in the evening of July 5,2007 on IBN7 Hindi news channel in India. A reporter from IBN7 - TV channel team was there with "Upasana", the 4 yr old Girl & her parents. A complete 30 minutes program was shown on IBN7 in which there were talks with "Upasana" & her parents, in which the little girl was giving all these details as posted in this blog post.

I wonder if anyone has considered a nine or ten month pregnancy between when Kalpana died and the the child was born. The reality is that reincarnation means re-incarnated, so it relates to bodies, and bodies develop after a nine or ten month pregnancy. Certainly there have been many cases where children do remember previous births, even names and faces and so on......small children are also well known for telling "little whoppers" too.
She wouldn't have known the word plane or professor unless she has read it some where. The source of these words has to be first studied. I don’t believe all aliens come to the US and all reincarnations take place in India .

Yes there are such re-incarnations. I saw a similar episode on Discovery channel yrs ago about a young boy who claimed to be a famous football player i suppose.I dont remember this players name but the channel arranged a meeting and got some of his childhood group photos and asked him to recognise where he is and such stuff. He was accurate. Even this players sister was sent into the room where he was seated all alone and as soon as she entered he called her by her name.they spoke about their childhood.He even shared some experiences which only they both knew.That lady was in tears.It was really amazing.I think someone too should arrange such sort of meetings u know so that we can know what happened on that fateful day.
In reply to the 9 month pregnancy comment, it is believed that the soul of a person only enters the foetus during the later months (7th I think but certainly not from the 1st month).
Reincarnation is an intergral part of the Hinduism way of life. I think people/scientist should study it objectively instead of just dismissing it simply because it doesn't correlate with the western ideology (which has been proven wrong in many instances)

In my show on INDIA TV I have already explained "Yes" Its true that Soul take birth as per their preference and for a particular experience.
In my therapy and research practice of last around 20 years, I even found many soul-groups are taking birth together with role exchanged to experience expansion of emotions and feeling.

Hi @ Madhu, God is not racist. He specified classes basing on the behavior/nature of the human being. For example, if a person by birth a brahmin, but behaving as a sudra, then that person even though born as brahmin is no more considered as a brahmin. and a sudra following the rules of a brahmin in his way of living,he is promoted to be a brahmin. This is Nature's law and this is what Bhagavad gita says. Dont read Bhagavad gita by yourself and please do not self speculate. some one asked why India. I say that is because of "runanubandha". As you all are discussing Atma is infinite and not bound by time. Some lives back may be that Atma is in-debted to this man or family.
It is very easy to discard and negate one's beliefs because it is very hard to understand them.
also it is now a fashion to argue against Hinduistic beliefs. In any case, this girl's aatma might have existed as Kalpana Chawla in her previous birth, that does not mean she will become another Kalpana in this birth. She has a different purpose. Isnt it amazing comparing Universe that we see to our knowledge. What we know is nothing we know a sand grain in ocean and we think we are intelligent creatures! Upasana was already living foetus(child in womb)when Kalpana Chawla met with her fatal tragedy.
Hence Kalpana Chavla has got to be reborn, if at all,at a date later than day of birth of Upasana.
However, rebirth is a well-documented phenomenon.

I am amazed at how suddenly this is a religious issue...why cant people see this as part of the uniquely diverse world we live in where all kinds of things are reported and investigated. Reincarnation was seriously considered by judaism and christianity up until a century or so ago..but seeing how their support cud destabilize the whole religious set up of the church they just got together and decided that those who believe in reincarnation will be damned..hee hee..yeah..and the pedos and perverts who call themselves instruments of god wudnt be damned...anyways being a hindu i dont believe in damnation...but i dont believe in everything thats told to me..hinduism actually encourages the quest for truth and I think we cant say anything for sure unless we investigaet such claims thoroughly..Take Shanti devi and her story of reincarnation for example...and please dont link this to religion..or trash it like UFO and Alien sightings. We actually have verifiable facts here...we can always ask the children who claim to be reincarnations and try to find out the truth unlike grainy videos or pictures that are the sole basis for UFO or alien sightings. All we need to do is investigate further...and i suggest we do that with an open mind instead of trying to trash a faith or a way of life or a belief system..to each his own...any belief system that condemns other belief systems and labels them false cant possibly be good.

Regarding kalpana chawla's rebirth, I strongly beleave that upasana must be interviewed by NASA regarding all the confidential matters which were thought to her by NASA so as to conform her rebirth which in return will be very helpfull to NASA to reconstruct the events that have taken place before the aircrash
Almost around 80% to 90% of Physicist believe in Time Travel, Tele Port, Parallel Universe etc., They say that there's a way for all these. But we dont have much resources to do that. Just assume that there'll be worlds in One, Two and Three Dimentions. People in 1 dimentional world cannot see 2 dimensions. People in 2 dimentional world cannot see 3 dimensions. In Bible, long back Moses and Solomon wrote that Earth is shaped Circular (literally sphere) and its hanging without any support. But nobody believed. Even, Vatican killed so many scientists including Galileo who said earth is sphere and its revolving round the sun. But now we accept that as we know about our solar system.
We say that our universe started from Big Bang, and now we have billions of galaxies, stars, planets and life on planets etc, How did all came to Existence? How did the big bang happen?
While comparing to these mysteries how big is reincarnation? When you believe Big Bang, galaxies, stars, planets why not reincarnation?
If somebody someday comes and knocks your door and says "I am your great great great great great great great great great Grand Daughter or Son" dont just slam the door !! May be they are your future descendants came travelling through time to visit you" !!

It all starts to make sense when one begins to question about the purpose of life? Why I am born here in this paritcular period, space with particular sets of tendency? Then we begin to search for the answers, first we try out science and all existing modern philosophies. Still we don't get our answers, because though science has made a great progress in last century..it's not evolved enough to answer the mysteries behind birth and death. Science can't make human to this date, and it can't stop one from dying either. So it has its limitation. We have to understand this limitation of science. Then we need to open our mind and search for new and old available knowledge about life and death.
In process of doing so we come across our valuable vedas, upanishads and geeta...
At first we find some hesitation at believing them..
but once you start to delve into the ancient knowledge you will experience something that is really convincing(somehow), something so integral and something so true...
everyting is explained in those valuable scriputres..
whole message of vedas and upanishad is about 'purpose of life' ...it has explained everything..from life to death to reincarnation.
We just need to be open...and we will get our answers...

dear friends, to all those who have raised the question of 'reborn' being phenomenon singularly cited in i dian context only, i would like to introduce dr. ian stevenson, chief psychiatrist hospital university of virginia also head of its division of personality studies dep. according to the good doc these instances are not restricted to the subcontinent uniformly spread and noticed around the globe but since the child' past life memory is sharpest at younger age, children are incoherent and as they grow older and get better at communication, memory starts to blur. since most other civilization had not entertained the idea as deeply it is entrenched here, most cases go unreported. also if we were to apply logic or cause and effect theory there is no escaping reincarnation. i was born ssickly and you healthy may be attributed to physical conditions, but emotions,trauma, also status, inequity etc for a new bornchild or accidents, suffering et al cannot be explained without assuming an unconcerned god or the final arbitrator without any sense of justice, if refuse in perpetual continuation of the journey of psyche despite intervening destruction and disintegration of its physical abode is not taken. furthermore without reincarnation there can be no motive towards moral behavior either.
The Space Shuttle disintegrated over Texas during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. So why didn't she reincarnate into a Texan child?
Also, we have never lost anyone outside of Earth's atmosphere (well there are some rumors that some Russians might have died and the government covered it up). The Challenger blew up as it was taking off and the Columbia upon re-entry as I mentioned above.
What would happen if one died in space like on Mars?

1. UFO is a world phenomenon, you can search and find out that more UFOs are see in Mexico, south america and Europe than reported in US. NATO forces in Europe had their own investigations done on UFO phenomenon. Prior to cold war it was thought Hitler had secret flying machines which were UFOs. Old paintings have depicted the same UFO "flying saucers" some thousands of years ago.
2. Reincarnation is not limited to India - please read books like Ramond Moody on near death experiences, Books by Brian Weiss on reincarnation. These are Harvard doctors who stumbled upon hundreds of cases of reincarnation and soul surviving physical death.
I think mainstream scientist worry about their research grants and hence do not elect to work on these subjects.
