Egg rage: Man stoned to death in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A few broken eggs and an ill-timed laugh led to the death of a 32-year-old in Vikas Vihar, west Delhi, on Thursday.

The incident occurred around 10.45pm, when Jasbir Singh (45), who runs a roadside egg stall, and his wife Chiranjeet Kaur (38) had just returned home from work. The victim, Jaiprakash Pahuja, reportedly poked fun at the couple who were struggling to balance an egg cart. This enraged the couple, who threw bricks at him. In a weird stone pelting ritual one person was killed and over 400 injured as villagers pelted stones at each other as part of an annual ritual in memory of two lovers in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, police said. Men from Pandhurna and Sawargaon villages, located on opposite banks of the river Jam in Chhindwara district, about 400 km from here, threw stones at each other during the festival known as Gotmar, which was observed Sunday. A 20-year-old man, frustrated and angry with his family, allegedly stoned his eight-year-old brother to death near their home in southwest Delhi, police said.

'The accused, Sonu, in his interrogation confessed that after his marriage five months ago, he was not given due care and affection by other family members.
