World's shortest woman

Nagpur: An Indian woman was named the world's shortest by Guinness World Records on Friday as she celebrated her 18th birthday in central India.

Jyoti Amge stood just 62.8 centimeters (24.7 inches) tall - shorter than the average 2-year-old child - when Guinness representatives visiting from London measured her at a ceremony attended by about 30 family and friends in the town of Nagpur, in Maharashtra state. Short Mayawati demands taller Statue

LUCKNOW, India - She may be diminutive, but the fiery leader of India's most populous state has no patience for short statues of herself.

Mayawati, the 5-foot tall chief minister of the northern India state of Uttar Pradesh, ordered officials to replace a 12-foot bronze statue of herself with a larger one because it was 3 feet shorter than nearby statues of other leaders.
