Violent Husbands to go to Jail

In India most of the married women are housewives & till now they were subject to all types of abuses. Men used to beat them, threaten them or yell at their wives. But today The Domestic Violence Act has been passed in India & any husband found guilty of all such abuses towards his wife shall be jailed and fined under the country’s first law aimed at curbing domestic violence. Now men or their families cannot abuse the women / wives in the house even for larger dowries.

Under the Domestic Violence Act any person found guilty of abuse broadly, including verbal, physical, sexual, emotional and economic mistreatment shall be punished & shall face up to a year in prison or a fine of Indian Rs 20,000 ( US $ 440) or both.

In India, around 70 per cent of women are victims of these violent acts in one or another form, as per Renuka Choudhury, the Minister of State for women and child development. Now, when a woman files a complaint, it is upto the man to prove that he did not abuse his wife.

So all Indian husbands, beware of your wives!!!!!
