‘Jailed’ Hanuman to get bail

PATNA: The hopes of Lord Hanuman coming out of a police lock-up, so to speak, in Bihar have been revived with a former police officer offering to be the “bailer” of the deity in police custody.

The deity has been in police custody for the past 15 years since no one turned up to bail him out because of the huge amount fixed by a court as security money for his release. The bailers would need to furnish a bail bond of Rs 42 lakh to get him out. Lord Hanuman has been languishing at Krishnagarh police station in Bhojpur district after being caught in a legal wrangle for the past two decades. Monkey God becomes Chairman of Indian Business School

His name is Lord Hanuman. In India He's a revered Hindu monkey god. And now, he's the Chairman of an Indian Business School.

Hanuman, the popular Hindu God known for his strength and valor, has been named official chairman of the recently opened Sardar Bhagat Singh College of Technology and Management in northern India, as per a school official.

The position comes with an incense-filled office, a desk and a laptop computer. Four chairs will be placed facing the empty seat reserved for the chairman and all visitors must enter the office barefoot, said Vivek Kangdi, the school's vice chairman.

Court summons Hindu gods

In a bizzare incident a judge in India has summoned two Hindu gods, Ram and Hanuman, to help resolve a property dispute.

Judge Sunil Kumar Singh in the eastern state of Jharkhand has issued adverts in newspapers asking the gods to "appear before the court personally".

The gods have been asked to appear before the court, after the judge said that letters addressed to them had gone unanswered.
