Man Climbs Tree to Escape Wife’s Medical Bill

Bhubaneswar: A tribal is living atop a tree in Orissa since Tuesday after he failed to pay his wife’s hospital fees, officials said Thursday.

Okil Munda, 26, a resident of Sansanadi village in Mayurbhanj district, admitted his pregnant wife in the government hospital at the district headquarter town of Baripada, some 270 km from here Monday. Indian village bodies ban paying of power bills

In Ambala district, upset with the state government's failure to supply regular electricity, at least 25 panchayats or village bodies in Haryana state of India have issued an order to villagers not to pay power bills.

The decision to ban payment of electricity bills by residents in 25 villages was taken at a meeting held at Barada village, 20 km from this district headquarter town.
