NEW DELHI - Oreo marked her birthday this year with a pool party in a posh New Delhi neighbourhood. Nothing unusual - except that the two-year-old is a dog.
The Dalmatian celebrated with a cake of flour, cheese and chicken tikkas, garnished with a rib-shaped biscuit on top and spent the day splashing in a swimming pool and chasing her 20 canine friends at a sprawling dog resort.
"It was like I was having my daughter's birthday party," said Priyamvada Sharma, Oreo's owner, who also has a 2-year-old female Labrador. "We had every possible type of biscuit and bone any pet shop would have." Read More................

Hyderabad: On a humid June evening, near a majestic church in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, a deal was struck. For Rs. 30,000 a poor mother sold her ten-month-old son to a couple who didn't have a child. The deal was signed on a Rs. 10 bond paper. The fine print gave the mother, 25-year- old Yessama, the right to take back her baby if she changed her mind. But she would have to pay Rs. 1.5 lakhs as a penalty for breach of contract.
That was on June 28. A fortnight later, the "buyers" were visited by a woman named Yashoda, who had brokered the transaction. She demanded more money on behalf of the mother for the baby. Arguments and a fight broke out, so the carefully inked deal became public. Read More................

In a ritual aimed at appeasing Lord Indra, the mythological rain god, residents in central and western India have been playing host to wedding feasts for frogs.
Disappointed at the delay in the onset of the southwest monsoon and also over the less than favourable predictions of the weatherman, these people are now seeking divine intervention to give them respite.
In Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, the residents performed a traditional Hindu wedding, but the bride and groom were frogs, and not human beings.
The wedding was performed under the supervision of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Lalita Yadav.
A group of women sat with the frogs during their wedding, singing songs and dancing while the amphibians were anointed and led through the ceremonies that aimed to appease Lord Indra, the rain god. Read More................
