Can you be fired from your job if you sport a heavy Moustache? Exactly that had happenned with Indian Airlines steward "Victor Joynath De" who was grounded for sporting a big moustache. Now he has approached the Supreme Court of india for seeking his reinstatement as cabin crew.

Victor was grounded by the Indian Airlines in 2002 for refusing to shave off his Moustache.

The Indian Airline's explanation at the time was that Victor ’s moustache violated the Indian Airline's Personal Conduct Code of 1998, which does not allow the display of moustaches which could be unhygienic.

The Code also says that moustaches could not be droopy and long side-burns are not permitted.
The airline also argued that Victor's moustache was a health risk, especially since he frequently handled food.

Since June 2002, Victor has been doing a desk job at Calcutta airport and deals with passenger complaints.
Victor claimed he wore his long moustache in keeping with family tradition and his spiritual faith. He said he regularly trimmed it.

The moustache, Victor said, was “very much in keeping with the aviation tradition and drew attention to the Maharaja logo of Air India wherein a similar moustache was in view”.
