Burqa / Veil clad Muslim women banned in Maharashtra Jewellery shops
This time this Burqa / Veil of Muslim woman, controversy is not from UK. It is right here in India. In Pune city in Maharashtra state of India, jewellers have decided to put restrictions on customers who come in wearing the burqa in their shops. As per Pune jewellers Association, surveillance cameras in their shops have failed to identify burqa-clad persons who had robbed leading jewellery stores in the city in the past. Jewellers in the city want to put up a board outside their shops informing about the ‘no burqa' policy.
As per the Jewellers, they have been forced to take this drastic step following incidents in the city where burqa clad women have stolen jewellery worth 1 million rupees (about 22,600 dollars) from three stores in Pune last month. In all such cases, police was not able to do anything even though the CCTVs captured how they stole the ornaments, because nothing was visible of their faces except the eyes.
