Public Homage to the Elephant

Here is a case of 39-year-old elephant of Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple at Palani in Madurai city of South India who died here & who's body was kept for public homage, as the elephant was not an ordinary elephant but was of a temple of South India. Special Pujas ( religious offerings) were made for to this elephant. This elephant was brought here in the temple of Palani in Madurai city when he was 3 years old & served the temple for 36 years. His body was ultimately lifted with a crane & buried with due respect & religious offerings. People paid due homage to the departed soul............Palani temple elephant dies
