Mooing' Ringtones used to catch Leopards

Ringtones are favorites of any Mobile phone user. Every user downloads & wants to listen to their choicest Ringtones, whenever, their Mobile Phone rings up. But can Ringtones of Mobile be used to catch the Leopards!!!! Sounds strange but Forest guards in Gujarat state of India have made it possible to lure Leopards with the help of Mobile phone Ringtones.

Forest guards in Gujarat are actually using Cell phones with Ringtones of cows mooing, goats bleating and roosters crowing to attract the leopards & they are falling in the trap also. Earlier they have been using methods such as live bait like goats tied to trees to lure the leopards, which then fall into large pits dug by the guards.

Leopards often roam into the nearby villages of the forests in search of food & that often results in attacks on the people of villages.

As per one forest official in Gujarat state of India, Mr. D. Vasani,"The moos of a cow, bleating of a goat from the phone has proved effective to trap leopards & this trick works"

As per Mr. Vasani , forest guards have downloaded the sounds of over a dozen animals as Ringtones on their mobiles which they attach to speakers and fix it behind a cage.

Then they play the Ringtone continuously for up to two hours until the curious leopard appears and moves into the cage looking for its easy meal.

Till now Five Leopards have been lured from nearby villages since the new Ringtone method was introduced a month ago.

Normally, if any unwanted animal like dog, cow etc. enters a house, it creates uproar in the house & people start searching for the ways, how to get rid of that animal. What shall happen if somebody sees a Leopard in the Bathroom of their house!!!!!!!!.

In Amitnagar housing society at Karelibagh in Vadodara city in Gujarat State of India, people got stunned when on Sunday morning — an eight-foot-long leopard was noticed over there. The leopard went strolling from one house to another & after some time the Leopard entered a bathroom, apparently to drink water, in a house owned by Viren Sukhadia. Someone, somehow closed the bathroom door & immediately bolted the door. The desperate animal, in its attempt to escape, hurt itself on the head.

Later on forest and zoo department officials reached the house & with tranquillizer guns and other equipments captured the Leopard. Animal was put into a cage and officials took it to the Kamatibagh zoo in the city.

Leopards to roam in outskirts of Mumbai

Subscribe to Weird India Subscribe to Weird India in MY YAHOO! Subscribe to Weird India in MY GOOGLE! Subscribe to Weird India in MY MSN! Subscribe to Weird India in MY AOL! Subscribe to Weird India in Rojo!

Mumbai is India's largest city with a population of more than 16 million people. Just think, if leopards start roaming in the outskirts of the city. Do you think it's a weird idea but something similar is going to be there as per one report in Daily India. As per the report 47 leopards are to be released back into the wild - on the outskirts of Mumbai as per the Authorities in India. Now how safe it shall be is questionable.

It is going to happen as Bombay has expanded beyond its limits & now it surrounds a national wild park that was once far from the city limits. In this untouched jungle of the park, Wild leopards thrived earlier, but as the city expanded, leopards started coming into the streets, walked into the suburbs and attacked and even killed the residents over there. Ferocious leopards earlier killed 12 people in one month, among them was a four-year-old girl who was dragged from, outside her home & was taken into the jungle.

In 2004, Maharashtra state Authorities then caught hold of the leopards & once they were caught, the killings stopped. Now the Federal Environment Ministry in New Delhi has ordered the release of the leopards back into the wild. Now authorities are going to use a technique,'Electronic Tagging' generally used for the offenders, where an electromagnetic chip shall be implanted on each leopard's tail. In future, after releasing the Cats, if one does kill again somebody, then cats shall be tracked down and shall be recaptured. Now how successful this technique shall be is debatable but certainly it shall pose grave danger to the people living in the vicinity of the wild park.
