Man gives away daughter in game of cards
MALDA: In a shocking near-rerun of Mahabharata, a habitual gambler staked his 18-year-old daughter as Yudhisthir had done with his wife Draupadi in the epic after losing everything in a game of cards. If that wasn't bad enough, Ismail Sk ended up losing his daughter to his opponent.
The incident occurred in Satgharia village under Englishbazar police station on Wednesday. Locals said Ismail, who is in his late 30s, lost all his money to Mustafa Sk, who is from a neighbouring village. Desperate, Ismail said he would continue playing, and staked his daughter. As luck would have it, Mustafa beat him again and walked away with the girl, against her wish.
