When Murali got caught for breaking into a finger print expert's house in 1998, he made sure that he committed a successful heist on the same house after he served his term in jail. It was only when this die-hard Rajinikanth fan confessed to the crime two years later, did the police realise that it was a case of 'honour burgling'.

Defeated on his own turf, the fingerprint expert confronted Murali and asked how the latter managed to break in and make a getaway without leaving behind any finger prints. "Simple sir, your old banian helped me. I wrapped it around my fingers during my operation," said the former burglar who has now turned to full-time carpentry in Tirupathi.
