In this Jet Set age Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) in Rajasthan state of India is planning to make it mandatory for drivers of bullock and camel carts to have licences and follow traffic rules.

The step is aimed at improving traffic movement in the historic city. "We have already prepared new by-laws for slow moving traffic in the city", as per one JMC officials.

As per the new by-laws, licences will be issued to drivers of slow moving vehicles after the JMC ascertains that the driver is not suffering from any infectious disease. The driver must be aged between 20 and 50 years, should have basic knowledge of traffic rules and should not have a criminal record.

As per the by-laws, there would be restrictions on the amount of load carried by slow moving vehicles. Parking of such vehicles in no parking zones would result in a fine of Rs.100 (US$ 2.5). Similarly, not driving in lanes fixed for these vehicles, overloading passengers or jumping the stop line would also attract a fine of Rs.100(US$ 2.5).

So take care if you are palnning to drive bullock or camel carts in Jaipur, you should be having the proper Driving Licence before you venture out on your trip.
