82-year-old gets licence to drive

In Mumbai City there is no upper age limit for procuring a driving licence, though the minimum age is 18. Recently one 82 years old man Lekhraj Sharma gave a driving test at the Andheri RTO & got a licence to drive. The officials were skeptical on noticing that he was 82 years old, but his physical agility and mature driving skills won them over. "I don't plan to take the car out on busy roads and there is no question of me being drunk at the wheel," says Sharma.

The city's three RTO offices are coming across more cases like Sharma's.

"The number of elders obtaining driving licences may be 1 to 2% of the total number of licence-seekers, but it is a significant number considering that earlier we never had them coming to us," says an RTO official at Tardeo.Read more..............82-year-old gets licence to drive
